13B-RE in conjuction with 13B-REW

I have a year long project in planning out.

I want to know if i can use the 13B-RE irons, for their larger intake ports, in conjunction with 13B-REW rotor housings for the larger exhaust ports.

And, will the 13B-RE intake manifold(s) fit?

Im only using pieces of each motor and not one or the other since i have a friend of mine who has -RE irons and -REW housings and rotors. who is willing to cut me a sweet deal.

Will i need to have any modifications dont to make this work? What else will i need to make this be possible.

The rotor housings are the same, it is just the exhaust sleeves that are different. The answer is yes, that is a perfectly workable combination of parts and the RE intake manifold will bolt directly to it. There are no modifiactions needed to use FD rotor housings in an RE engine.

excellent to hear. I wasn't sure as it is rare i have seen this combintation and the few times that i have, the motor was so heavily modified i had no clue.

Thanks

I'll be putting this motor setup in a GSL-SE body.

What modifications would i need to do to adapt the front cover so i can use the -SE mounts?

Just use the SE front cover. Drill and tap it for an oil return line, if you are installing a turbo.

I appreciate all the info you're supplying me with Banzai.

Yes, i'll be going turbo.... more than likely a small T04 type from HKS for street, drag, and some autox.

what about the OMP?

Im not sure wether to somehow fabricate a manual OMP to mimick the GSL-SE/S4 FC or adapt it as an electronic OMP and use a standalone ECU to control it. My ECU of choise is a Haltech.

To run the RE UIM/LIM combo you will need a 30mm (or50mm cant remember) spacer to be made as the RE UIM is shorter than stock. If you dont do that you will need to relocate the Oil filler kneck. Also the RE kit sits about 1/2" higher than REW :)

I think you may be confused as to what the OP is doing. There are no spacers required to install a RE UIM/LIM onto an RE engine. He is not trying to mate a non-matched set.

Your best bet is to block it off and run premix. The electronic OMP will not mount on the SE front cover, and getting it to work with the Haltech (depending on which one you are useing) is going to be a trick in itself. You can try to rig up a mechanical OMP, but that will require linkage modifications. Additionally the 13b-re only uses two oil injectors, so making the FC OMP work will take some work as well.

the only 'mis-matched' block parts are REW rotor housings.

Thanks again Banzai :icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup: :icon_tup::icon_tup:
