13b fd3s engine with fc timing cover? timing set

hellO! i swap my rx8 with a 1994 fd3s engine! i use front timing cover of rx7 turbo 1987 and the pulleys of rx7 fd! that pulley no have timing marks to match the time with the 1987 cas. so i need to know how i cant put the time with that pulley! maybe with the flywheel?

Bump for an Interesting question that I may run into with my swap.

The FD pulley plate has timing marks but it's for trailing. So you can mod that plate to get the timing marks required or just buy a FFE trigger wheel kit to match your ECU.

Turn the engine until the front hub keyway is pointing the right(dead center pointing right at 9 0'clock)align the cas marks and drop it in then install pulley and mark it.

or grab a complete FC hub/pulley combo from an original engine and swap it in there, set it to the 5ATDC mark and swap back to the hub you have on now and mark it in the same position. be aware that the mark will be 5* retarded from TDC.

aligning the keyway works but it is difficult to get it 100% accurate and the timing may vary by a few degrees due to the small keyway being difficult to align perfectly to the 9 oclock position.

Both replies are dead on, just be careful to NOT let the key way come out with the pulley. The needle bearings will drop & when you reinstall the pulley you will crush the needle bearings good luck.

i do that..for start up. I mark the hub and put in 9oclock and the engine start. I need now to check with light timing...
