12A Rebuild -- Can these housings be reused?

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 12A and wanted to get some feedback about these rotor housings. The engine has 115K miles on it, and was making good compression prior to being taken apart. On first inspection, the wear looked like someone had machined it as most of the wear marks seem to come from the side in. On second inspection, they still look that way to me, but I began to think that the engine overheated at some point and warped, causing uneven wear on the wall. This wear is the only damage in the engine. The intermediate, front, and rear housings are in great condition and the rotors are in good shape but had carbon covering 85%-90% of the faces (it's been scrubbed off). This is from a second car I purchased to make one good one. The other engine is scarred beyond use and has one bad rotor. I said that to say this -- I just want to get one car running. But I don't want to spend too much more money. I've already spent 1800$ to get this far (both cars, rebuild kit, and other parts). So here's the question: Can I reuse these housings, or should I stop whining and find (yet another) engine to use? |
no i wouldnt use them.. their is alot of chrome flaking. Try ebay they have some good deals on rotor housings.

Nope
Sorry, but neiter of those rotor housings are worth useing. better to get another engine, or buy new housings.
if you tried to use those housings they will wipe your new apex seals in short order. ken |
What about machining / resurfacing?

if the rest of the part are fine, i would say get some good housings and rebuild it. Or get a engine from a respectible source.... RR for example. |
