10w 40 sound good?
 

Hey everyone hows it goin?i fianlly pulled to fc out of storage and its driving good.i have a few questions. this is my first rx and this will be my first time working on a Rotary engine.i decieded to put 10w 40 in the engine i live in ohio and the lowest temp it gets is no less than 30,so that weight seems best for the condtions.and i want to drain the tranny as well wha do u guys think for the oil and weight for that?i heard of people putting lucas stabilizer in the tranny.will the rotary work well and fully burn it away with that weight of oil thats my main question.ive been reading up alot about them since last summer but id like to no from more expierenced rx owners there opinion on my decision.2 more things i can feel heat rising from the shiftboot and from under the dashboard,any thoughts on that?and for the different rpms what where sould the oil pressure guage needle be reading?any help will be appriciated.Thanx

I personally run 10w 30 (Virginia with very drastic climate changes). Depending on your climate you may run different stuff. But when i first read your post I was thinking WD40 and the thought came as "wha...?"

i had the same question, i too am a first time 7 owner and i found out that mazda recommends 5-30 oil in rx7's. and as for the oil pressure,i would like to find out also cause i think mine runs low (about 15-20 lbs at idle) and would like to know whats average normal.

According to Mazda:
In starting and operating temperatures below 20F, use 5W30
In starting and operating temperatures between 0F and 80F, use 10W30.
In starting and operating temperatures above 30F, use 20W50

In my daily driver Vert I switch between 10W30 and 20W50 winter/summer.
In my modded Turbo 20W50 year round.

thanx u guys ill go with 10 30w and check it out.and 85rexgsl i no at 3krpm it should be around 65lbs i think if tht helps at all i read that in my haynes manuel.anything i said not true correct me.
