** simple gauge question **

i'm going to be installing a rev II exhaust on my 88 turbo II and will need to install fuel cut controller. as a result per racing beat "the stock boost gauge no longer displays accurate boost pressure".

i want to install aftermarket boost and oil pressure gauges on the a pillar and need to know if i need to purchase an electronic or mechanical gauge. i was looking on the JEGS website and they offer both. thanks!!

Either one works. Mechanical are cheaper, simpler but a little bulkier to run the hoses to the gauges. Electric can be more cleanly installed, but are more expensive and need additional wiring.

from my experience the electronic gauges usually are more accurate, but can also be more problematic depending on the brand. i use an autometer C2 gauge for my water temp for example and it's loves to periodically do stupid shit if the battery voltage gets anywhere below a good full charge, a customer also had a ton of issues with the same gauge not turning on at all(the connector at the back of the gauge is crap).

Pay to play. Get Defi, Speed Hut or something of the sort.

If you wanna go cheap, Prosport is a decent option.

yep, i install a fair amount of Defi gauges and haven't had a single complaint.

I have the carbon autometer gauges in the FD now. I hate them. I need to switch back to Defi or something.

thanks for the input, i was looking at the carbon autometer gauges. i had them on my old turbo II and they never gave me any problems and i also liked how they looked. i'll definitely check out the Defi brand gauges too.
