Question interest in custom radiator ducting and undertray/front splitter combo?

THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO BUY THESE, this is just a thread to check interest numbers.

Use the poll options to mark your interest.

Radiator Ducting
It would be made out of CF or Kevlar sheets (or some toher exotic material) and be very similar to the one I made out of fiber glass, but thinner and lighter since it would not have the cardboard inside it. Also, it would be much smoother and refined. I would try to make it 'nose' independent (works with almost any nose) and supply all mounting hardware, etc. It would replace the stock undertray.

Here are pics of my fiberglass test modle to get the idea:

Undertray and Front splitter Combo
This would look very similar to the picture below (taken from jt-imports.com site)

However, it would go all the way past the oil pan AND it would go past the nose in the front about 2 inches, basically like a front splitter and undertay together as one piece. Initially the template is made for my nose (mazdaspeed GTC), however, the curve on teh bottom is basically the same on all noses so it should be fairly compatiable with all noses and you can always cut off the extra front material to match your nose exactly, you just wont have the splitter part coming forward. It would also be made of CF or kevlar or some other exotic material :-)

Only vote on the pole if you would seriously buy.

well, the v mount will not affect the undertray, did you mean radiator ducting?

does anyone know if you can work the same piece with stock and then v-mount? I am going to be going that direction next spring and dont want to have to get another piece.

Damian, isnt that with your bumper wouldnt it be different depending on the bumper different people have? Would you do custom orders I guess?

I would try to make it usable for any nose, and we would do some test fits if there is enough interest to make them. The first two test fits would be the ms gtc nose (my track car) and the stock nose (my street car).

Just guessing, but I'd imagine the height of the sides would be smaller on a stock nose than on the GTC. I wonder if doing a mock up of the oil cooler (& brake duct vents) for a 99 and other front noses where the old stock ones don't line up would generate any interest? That's the one thing that keeps me from buying a Pettit front nose is the oil cooler vents that direct air to it. Off the top of my head, does covering the oil pan keep it from getting air flow around it that might help cool it a little, or is the cooling negligible?

Tim

I might be interested if it is setup for a stock mount radiator with the a/c condensor in place ( I see you fabbed up your's with the p/s loop in place ).

For the v-mount crowd, I can see the v-mount working only if you leave the undertray off to vent the backside of the radiator. Please educate me if I'm off here.

ok, the rad ducting is a bit more comples, so ill tackle that one later, anyway, we cut and drilled the underpanel/splitter today, it aluminum adn i will test it at BIR wednesday, however, in the end it will just be the template for the much lighter CF (or whatever) material. it looked awsome and covered the entire front bottom, ill have pics tomorrow night (forgot the cam today, doh)
