Thinking of moving to japan
 

i was thinking of moving over there from tx but i was wondering if anyone knows any good places to live at? and if there is any dealers with working FCs ?

yeah, I was thinking about moving over there too. I don't know if they have immigration laws or what, but If possible, I probably will move there someday.

They sure do, pretty damn strict ones too. Thier very conservative in that way, they really do dislike outsiders.

If you get a job here you can live here no problem with a working visa. Japan is as strict as America when it comes to living here, but there are over stays (people here past there visa expiration date), just as there are illigals in the states. Nothing new.
Also,......Saying you are coming here to buy a GTR is like time warping back to the year 2000 in America and saying, "I'm going to buy a Honda Civic Si". Except you would have a lot better of a ride. Everyone and their mother says they would own one but when they get here they change their mind 98% of time.
I plan to retire here and would recommend it to anyone but cost of living can be a pain if you try to live outside of your means, as the same with any country. I just love it here.

the R33 is from 1995 to 1998, 1999 was the R34 ......

From what I understand, unless you have a job there, that's pretty much the only way for an outsider to actually live in Japan. If you are anything but caucasian, it will in fact be harder for you.

Another reason as to why their laws are so strict is that their population is very high and they see no need and have no desire to increase that. The Japanese like to stay "pure" and that's the same case in most of the countries in the east asian part of the world.

The only other way i can see a person being able to actually live down there is if you marry someone who is from Japan and they take you back with them, or you stay there with them.

as has been said, immigration is handled very closely here
no one will employ you unless they know that you either have a visa or they can get you the appropriate business visa
if you have a degree the large chain english schools are an easy way to get a job and accommodation while you are still in the usa
once here other options will become apparent

if you don't have a degree things become more complicated...

but if you want to move here from the usa because you, hate the stupid people/stuff that happens there, you may be in for a disappointment

japan is a high pressure place where most everything is much more complicated than it needs to be and you have to have a pretty good tolerance for crap to put up with it

i can't believe this thread...i want to move to Japan, i wonder if there are any immigration laws...lol...come on dude are you kidding? it doesn't seem like you thought this through...easiest way to go there temporarly would be to have/get a teaching degree...second, obvioulsy being marriage to someone of japanese nationality..
I can tell you first hand, the paperwork and burecratic bullshit involved with getting a permanent visa, dual citizenship, and passport in another counrty is no cake walk.
think it through...you can import a car from there if that's your whole reason for wanting to move there, which i really hope its not..lol

Im japanese and i've been living in the United States all my life, and to be honest im sick and tired of it, and now im going to college there next spring.

But im going to tell you if you want to do anything automotive there you better know people in the automotive scene cause every person who has a skyline or a rx7 all have hookups and they never pay full price for parts. So if you go there not knowing anyone your going to have a real tough time, it might be a diffrent story if you could speak japanese and have good people skills.
Thats just my thought i mean it must be diffrent for people stationed through the US military, than just being a citizen in japan.


p.s learn kanji cause thats a must there, i had to find that out the hard way.

I dont think any of the above information is very accurate.
You do not need to know Kanji to get by at all for starters. hiragana and katakana are very useful and should be learned if you are planning to move here but they also are not needed.

Have you really been here for a significant amount of time before or are you just taking what you learned from F&F tokyo drift and shitting it out your keyboard? If you have lived here I am surprised you havent noticed how people tend to pay full or over price for a lot of things from friend or "hook ups" to support their business. "hook ups" do exist but as would be expected if you don't know the right person then you dont get the price which is the same all over the world I would suspect.

Don't let the above post scare you from doing something automotive in Japan. I have met all kinds of complete tools who have seemed to find a way to work over here in the car scene.
