Imported FD

Hey, I'm new here. Still in the process of becoming an informed rx7 guy before I buy, that's on top of becoming informed about imports lol.

I'm considering buying a '92 FD that was imported from Japan to Canada. Is there anything special I should watch out for about the car? Or are they basically identical besides the steering wheel location, crash and emission standards?

What about aftermarket parts? Will say the parts listed on this site fit and work on the car?

The reason I'm considering an import is because they are MUCH cheaper. But will I be paying for it in the end?

How many kms does it have? There are tons of things to consider and watch out for.

There is a huge base for aftermarket parts, i recommend using the rx7 shops affiliated with this site.

Post this in the main 3rd generation forum and you will get a heap more replies. Maybe the mod could be nice enough to move the thread.

Thanks for the reply.

The car has 90,000km on it for $7500cdn. I've heard you need an engine rebuild around 110-130k? Which would actually be a long ways off since it would be my weekend toy.

Bad news though. The future wife found out I was considering buying it before our wedding this year and got upset since I already own 2 vehicles. :crying: I've told her repeatedly that I would sell one of them when I buy a new car. But she just doesn't understand that.

My only guess is that she thinks if the wedding is that important to me, then the car can wait.

Damn womenz and their messed up logic :wallbash:

I just created a new thread in the 3rd gen forum.

Hopefully bigwillie is right and I'll get more responses there!
