Going to Japan.
 

I am going to Tokyo October 6 -to the 23rd. I want to see the real Japanese car scene,street racing/drifting and all the things. Don't know where to start. Any suggestions or forum friends that will like to guide me? Also want to visit yoyogi park and meet some sweet Japanese chicks. Wasup??

I would try to get your international drivers license so you can rent a car and get to some of the more remote locations. Also hit up RE Amemiya (He has 2 shops) and you can always do the UP garage thing to get some parts here. I recommend that you get an app like Japan Travel to navigate the train system.

Tokyo is not the car scene capital that a lot of people think it is but there is plenty to see. You can check the schedule for Fuji speedway. I think the King of Asian drift tour just ended. Daikoku-futa is still kicking unless the cops close the exit and has cars on Friday nights usually.

I would check out Roppongi for a social scene but be careful of some of the bars with the Nigerians hanging out front...your bill might be very high as they jack the prices on your to exploit you. Also Shinjuku is a good time at night with lots of bars...and the robot show.

I already have my international license. Any where I can rent cool cars for a day or two?

1/2 week in Japan already and I havent see any cars.
I did F1 in Suzuka which was quite a bit far. Also did shinjiku,robot show,meiji shrine (which was amazing),fish market and shibuya. Went to roof top soccer field. Pretty much did a ton of stuff so far. Tomorrow I'm headed for Hiroshima.
I am extremely impressed on how clean and organized it all is. Makes NYC look like crap.

daikoku PA (parking area) or tatsumi PA on a Friday/Saturday are your best bets for scene. as far as drifting and touge, doshi in kanagawa sometimes? mazda turnpike in hakone (kinda far out). and ive heard Nagoya and Osaka have some decent spots since youre headed out that way, but idk fersure.


*there are better spots in the area, you just have to meet people that know em. Japanese are pretty friendly and try their best to speak English if you don't speak Japanese. so just be social

^^ yeah I have spoke to a few locals but they don't know anything. Every time I see a skyline,Nissan or integra they are driving by so no chance of talking to any of them. I am going to the D1 event next Saturday and Moto GP tomorrow so hopefully I'll meet someone.

I went, I had no idea I needed a reservation. Was not very happy traveling so far and not being get in.but Instead I visited Hiroshima memorial, the miyajima shrine Which was freaking amazing, local food was super and after that I walked around Hiroshima wondering around. My whole experience was excellent. I am still amazed on how clean,civil and nice the country and people are in general. I feel totally safe getting lost and not worry.

never heard of anyone needing a reservation. its a public parking area..

Yes, you do need reservations for the museum. IIRC, you can schedule an English-speaking tour later in the day.

I wish I was still in Japan, as I could have met you in the Hiroshima/Miyajima area. Was it low tide when you were in Miyajima? If it was low tide, you should have been able to touch the shrine. I used to live 25 miles west of Hiroshima (Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni).

Your initial impressions are correct...Japan is very clean, has wonderful public transit, and is safe, especially for children. While most Japanese are very polite, the Japanese can discriminate too, especially towards "Gaijin".

Not sure if it was discrimination tho, but when i was there, my friend who is blonde with long blond beard sparked a lot of interest when we took Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto. The girls took turns in the seat in front of him to watch him sleep xD

That is pretty normal. Blond hair and blue eyes is definitely an attention grabber.

Girls were beautiful. I don't mean to sound like a creep but those school girl/emo colorful looking chicks where driving me crazy but I know they are young as hell. But even the older girls wear provocative shit, I need to learn Japanese and go back on my fuck boy A game.

I've spent twelve years off-and-on in Japan, so I'm quite comfortable there.

I'm headed to Okinawa on Monday for work, but only for a few days. My next leisure trip will be in January for 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon (the Japanese version of SEMA).

I was in Japan in September, visited Osaka/Kyoto/Nara/Hiroshima, food is awesome and public trans is easy to navigate, but interestingly places close quite early like 11PM. As far as the Mazda museum you have register at least a week in advance or else it'll be hard to get a spot, they only do small group at a time because there's only one tour guide per group, and they take you into the assembly line so can't be too many people.

I didn't see your thread when I was in Asia, otherwise I would've share some of my experience.

I took a bunch of pictures in the museum, here's one with the 787B, I even got a picture of a FIAT in the assembly line lol.
