FAR EAST Meet and location poll

Ok guys there are lots of us 7 freaks here in Japan and we all have a decent amount of 7 friends or other sports car/ tuning car related friends both Japanese and foriegn. So I think we should try and make an effort to have a gathering or meeting of out own some time. I would suggest 7-7-09 but there is always such a delay on any solid info for that even so I think we would be best off doing an event at a different time. However if you guys wanted to shoot for 7-7-09 that is fine with me. I think a summer or early fall meet would be best.

So any how here is the idea. I will post up a poll with this thread. In the poll I am going to be looking for where you live or are located in Japan so that after seeing where most of us all are we can then gather up ideas for potential meeting spots.

A simple meet and greet with BBQ or something is definately no problem, however I think everyone here would like to spend time on a track or watch others on a track so if we could figure out what track for us all to go to that would allow both Grip and Drift classes that would be great.

This brings up another idea. For those that are super far away from the meeting location and do not want to pay the road tolls etc to bring a car down we could figure out a way to get them cars. You see there are plenty of us here with access to the auctions and or other ways of getting our hands on cheap 7's or other beaters. We could gather money from those who would not be able to bring there own car but would like to drive and pick up some cheap beaters. We could then have a lottery for the car or cars or parts at the end of the day or figure something out. Ok this post got longer than I wanted.

Post up in the poll where you are located and then post in the thread about any ideas you may have for a meeting etc...:)

Here is a link to determine where you are located.

I'm In Shizuoka city and often work with Okabe Jidosha which is in Okabe town (www.okabejidosha.com)

I'm now in the process of building our house here and there will be a huge place for a BBQ outside (but not before the end of this year).

I also often go to the Fuji speedway for different events and driving myself. I'll be there for the next Super Taiyku race on this circuit with Okabe Jidosha Motor Sport.

Can meet anywhere in the area.

If some poeple know the Nihon Daira between Shizuoka and Shimizu is a nice spot to meet. Every weekends parkings are full with sport cars.

Circuit Theory 02-04-09 10:43 PM

Shizuoka isnt to far for most of us Kanto folks and Fuji speedway could be a great place to meet. I dont think I would trust a beater car on Fuji speedway hahaha at those speeds if some unknown problem popped up it could easily mean lights out. Fuji is definately driveable for Kanto and Chubu folks and possibly by ferry for shikoku people but I think the Okinawa crowd and kyushu crowd might have trouble.

Anybody else have input???

YO, im in kanto pretty close to tom, I would say for a kanto and chubu meet around mt fujii would be the best bet, even if its for a drive on the roads in the area. Also get an ETC and the outer highways are only 1000en are far as you want one way after april sometime.

Okinawa :) FDs have been popin up like crazy lately here on oki, where you guys at?

kenn_chan 04-06-09 02:31 AM

I just found this as it popped to the top.

I would be game regardless of the location, just have to decide which car to bring....... I think that maybe fuji is awful large......(hence expensive) maybe a smaller track would be OK? (cheaper)

Or maybe we could shoot for somewhere closer to the lower half of mainland (honshu) to allow the guys from down south to be a little closer? I personally am form the Kanto region but would be willing to drive south it that would help us to get more people together.

Kanto/Tokyo area meet would be great. Kenn I envy that FB you were telling me about and can't wait to see it on the 25th. Myles if you want to go up to ebisu on the 25th Kenn and some others are going and I will probably make the trip out also.
Carol let us know when you will be in JP!

Tom, Myles, and Carol and anybody else interested...

We are going to Ebisu on the 25th of april for the nighter run, 8,000 yen + insurance (980 yen). Thats 6 hours of track time on any of 5 different tracks, 2 grip, and 3 drift.

We are also going on the May 25th. May 25th is a US holiday, so if you work on one of the bases you should have it off, the great thing is that on Mondays in the daytime you get 6 hours of daylight track time for 12,000 yen and it includes the insurance and the timer unit.

Both of these are an honest to goodness 6 hours, not the normal 15 minute heat x 3, so if anybody is interested contact me via PM.

cheers

Kenn
