pulse settings for stainless
 

So I've been done a few projects with 304 stainless. At first I was pretty much not getting any color in my welds, until we got a gas lense. I also need to pick up bigger cups. I believe right now we have #6 I believe.

So if all in doing is fusing the metal worth no rod on pulse setting, I can work quick and have lots of nice color.

With pulse setting off, I can weld pretty well with rod, but I don't get much color. Especially if I compare the color I get when I fuse weld with no rod. You think i just need a bigger cup?

So here comes my main reason for the thread. I couldn't find a good rhythm on pulse where I can add rod, look like nice colorful dimes stacked. Either when I add rod the puddle cools way too much. On higher amperage pulse, my welding with pulse setting off is better.
Any pointers from guys that are real good at welding stainless on pulse setting, and adding rod? In not at the shop, but there was a frequency, amperage, and one other setting I forgot. Maybe I need to find a nice setting that suits my rhythm.

This is done with pulse off, and adding rod. I can't get it real colorful. Sorry it's not a very close picture, but in sure some of you can tell
Not as shiny, less purple

I have had good luck using the CK worldwide large clear cups. Other make similar but I only had experience with these. It helps with the color and keeping everything flooded with shielding gas. I am not a professional welder nor am I very good but I found these cups to make it look like I knew what I was doing.
