hey quick car importing question

i may be moving into the UK in the next few years and i do not want to leave my beloved fd behind. I am just wondering how hard it is to import my US car to over there. if anyone could help answer that question it would be apreciated

I remember people importing their cars from Europe to the UK and saying the procedure was easy but I am not sure from the US. If you do it you'll see how tricky/fun driving on the LHD of the road with a LHD car is (especially overtaking). If you manage not to change your license plate (I did not have to do this from France) you'll see that no speeding tickets will reach you :o)

Good luck.

ooo that would be fun lol. i dont think is should be too hard because of the us strick standards for car importing and almost any where ealse is pretty leanient with importing since the car is in us specs anyways lol.

I think will be easy import in Germany than ask the Uk plates. 99% of the USA cars that are now in Italy are passed from there

that sounds like a pretty good plan to me. i want to move to europe and with a fincial degree i figured the easiest place to trasition from is the UK anyways.

Another easy think...Transport you car in Europe and sell in a LHD country with your USA plates.
With the money you could buy 2 UK RHD car I think :bigthumb:

guy I work with shipped his harley air freight with Lufthansa. it was $1500 total from JFK airport to Munich, Germany (sp?). He was saying that $850 of his cost was having someone fill out the paperwork for him. If you knew someone that worked in shipping or supply they would know how to do the paperwork for you though (and save you a lot of cost).

he said its pretty easy, people were nice and he got to ride on the same plane as his bike so... if you have any specific questions let me know and I'll ask him for ya.

ps

I'm being told that Germany is THE place you want to ship your car to. (because of taxes etc)
