What datalogging programs are available for an FD?

What are the options for datalogging and PCM tuning on an FD? I'd like to be able to log readings like O2s, injector duty cycles, timing, etc. and then review them later on a laptop or some sort of display device. After reviewing those, I'd like to be able to tweak fuel/timing/etc. Is there something like this for the FD?

I'm still looking for that perfect used modded FD, but this aspect is important to me for tuning. On my other car (a heavily modded 1995 LT1 Camaro), I can datalog with a program on my PC laptop called Datamaster which plugs into the ECM port, and flash the computer timing/fuel/etc. with another program on the laptop using the same port (it's called LT1 Edit). The datalogging software has a lot of graphing and analysis functionality built-in. For the late model f-body, this software runs about $95 for the datalogger, $75 for the cable and $100 for the reprogramming software. Is there something comparable to this for the FD?

Or do you need to go to Haltech or something similar to get the same datalogging and programmability on an FD?

I've seen that a lot of FD guys have this Apexi Power FC, but it doesn't sound like it offers nearly the same capability and yet it cost a whole bunch more money. The preprogrammed computers from Petit and M2 sound even more inflexible.

If someone could summarize the options for me, I'd really appreciate it.

And if the only comparable option is something like a Motec or Haltech, how much do one of those set-ups run and how difficult are they to install in an FD?

Thanks,

Rich J

A standalone ECU would be the way to go. I've never heard of anything like you're talking about for RX-7's. Both Motec and Haltech have good datalogging, but the Haltech will be much easier to set up for your car. It's also alot cheaper than the Motec. It seems to be the most popular system. The TEC II and Wolf 3D also do datalogging, but the Wolf 3D only gives min/max values. The new Wolf 3D V4 is supposed to do better datalogging.
