TEC II or SDS

I can get a TECII for $850 (minus software and manuals which would be a little extra) which is in the same range as an SDS system... keeping in mind that I just have a measly 2.5L v6 in my mx6, what should I go with?

Please don't reply with "why the fuck are you gonna spend money on an standalone for one of those for?" :D

I have my reasons (wild cams and restrictive Vain AirSensor being the main ones)

Last time I checked, this is an RX-7 forum - why you asking in here for?

Simple, how many mx6's do you think are running standalones? :)

Go for the TECII

The TECII will need a laptop to program, however It may have a lot more features like knock sensing and datalogging. The TECII is upgradable with several software packages. You might want to check:

SDS EM3-E (distribtutor) and EM3-F (coil packs) have knock sensing capability.

Exactly. So go to the MX-6 forum.
