standalone

if i go standalone will that eliminate the stock tps on an s5 turbo. I think mines going bad and id rather spend that money towards a standalone. I was thinking of the haltech

if you go with a haltech then you get a haltech tps sensor. by the way were in Ohio are you?

Noel Caraballo 08-16-07 11:07 PM

Yes haltech has a tps sensor to replace the stock one. You need to make a bracket for it though.

i dont mean to hijack the thred but i wanted to know can you use the stock coils for the ignition?

gxl90rx7 08-17-07 08:45 AM

i believe on s5, the tps controls the OMP, so you may run into problems there unless you swapped the s4 omp

Interesting question....

A standalone won't necessarily eliminate the TPS. Most standalones use the TPS for at least something like determining if the car is on/off idle, decel fuel cut, accelerator pump, flood clear, etc. But what it does mean is that you have a choice to run any TPS you wish.

For the most part most standalones can be configured to work without a TPS but you may loose certain functions (flood clear and decel cut being the most important).

^ have you ever successfully tuned accel based on MAP alone? "success" defined as being almost as responsive as a properly tuned car with a TPS

Aaron Cake 08-17-07 01:24 PM

The only time I've ever used the TPS for the accelerator pump is on the Megasquirt, and I think one Haltech setup.

The Microtech does MAP based acel enrichment very well.

When running standalone the computer controls the OMP.
