running in closed loop
I have been going back and forth on which ecu to buy.. I have made 100's of phone calls and emails up the ass. I was down to the power fc or the microtech.. BUT now it seems to be just the Power FC. I plan on driving my car on the street and the track.. Most of the tunners I have talked to all say that if you are going to drive the car on the street the ECU should work in closed loop...
One guy sent me this.. Closed loop mode means that the ECU will compare the measured air/fuel ratio to the target air/fuel ratio and automatically increase or decrease fuel delivery accordingly. In open loop mode, the ECU will still use the oxygen sensor to read air/fuel ratios, but will not adjust fuel delivery as in closed loop mode. What do you guys think. being able to run in closed loop as important as some guys say it is... Thank you, Craig K www.drivinhard.com |
Running in closed loop will improve your gas mileage and will probably result in your spark plugs, o2 sensor, and cat lasting longer, due to less rich running.
Running w/o closed loop will not really hurt your car or anything. |
Nope:)
If you tune the car right, it will be close to stoich at crusing anyway. Not many people I know run closed loop on their EMS's because the people that buy them are looking for power, not 2-3mpg better on the highway:) I always tell people to buy the EMS that you and/or your tuner are comfortable with. |
