Looking to get a ECU but which one?
 

Just got a 88 TII and want to get an ECU for it but I'm trying to figure out which one to get. so far I've been told to get either a micro tech system a mega squirt or APEXi Power FC. Got anymore suggestions or a take on which of these is better?

Ask who you are going to get it tuned by, their preference is probably a good choice because they will know how to work it.

Of course if you are going to tune it yourself then I dunno.

Mega squirt is a glorified Radio Shack type do-it-yourself kit, and the Power FC is designed for the FD RX-7 and requires a special aftermarket adapter for the FC. Is a real* rotary engine tuner recommending these items, or are you just reading the internet?

* real = somebody who works at an actual auto shop, and is bonded.

May as well just drive the car off a cliff IMO.

actually I've gotten these recommendations from people who currently have their cars tuned. Also i do plan to tune the car my self considering i used to work in a shop have taken a few classes and I am a computer and software engineer, I think i can do a pretty good job

Being a computer/software engineer has not that much to do with tuning save maybe building the megasquirt itself. And I would know as I am the same degree.

I am not saying don't tune your own car, just be careful. If you are going to tune it yourself look at probably the higher end of ECU's that may be able to assist in your tune.

Oh, in that case I would probably recommend the MegaSquirt. It would be a good project for somebody with a tuning and electronics background, experienced local friends who can help with the assembly and tuning, and a willingness to accept expensive mistakes for the sake of having fun tinkering with the car.
