Haltech and Electronic Metering Pump???
I was wondering if a Haltech can control an electronic metering pump for an 89-91 RX7, and i think that the 93-95 use the same setup. Any information will be appreciated, thanks.

the 86-88 FC (series 4) uses mechanical OMP, the 88-91 cars use electronic. as yet no the haltech doen't support it however it is in the pipeline for future software upgrades so we are told.

All of the electrical OMP's suck anyway https://www.rx7club.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

premix is what I use, however I also have the omp from a 88 rx7 installed in my car, just inactive until I decide I am tired of premixing...

Andres, Did you just use an 87 OMP, or did you use the whole front cover? Did T&R do it? [/B][/QUOTE] T/R can do that for you as they installed it for me |
That sounds good. I just dropped my car off this morning, so I'll stop by tomorrow to talk to Tony. Thanks. https://www.rx7club.com/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm11.gif

Plus running a premix makes people think that your are running leaded high octane fuel, when you are using pump fuel https://www.rx7club.com/ubb/biggrin.gif.

I'm seriously considering a Haltech, but premixing sounds like a hassel. How much do you premix? Can I put an early 2nd Gen. OMP in my FD so I don't have to premix? What are the advantages/disadvantages? When is this Haltech OMP software supposedly coming out? Thanks!

For most road cars you will mix 1-1.2 ounces per gallon of gas, this will yield a 100:1-128:1 ratio. It really isn't a hassle because you just have some little soda bottles filled with premix that you can fill up each time you come back from the gas station and then have them ready for the next fill-up.
Yes you can put an 86-88 mechanical OMP on your FD, just ask Andres, or T&R Racing. Or there are others who know as well of course https://www.rx7club.com/ubb/smile.gif Advantage: -No premix, just start and go. Dis: -You are burning 4 stroke lubricating oil from your sump which burns shittier and fouls things. don't hold your breath for a computer that controls that dumb thing https://www.rx7club.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ AOL = sniffigitawhump ICQ is up at the top. the big fat beauty of premix is you no longer contribute to the gunge build up on the rotor faces.
|
i'll put it bluntly, the OMP weather it be controlled electronically, mechanically or by some martian mud monkey following you around in his UFO, is crap. it is only there as a make shift measure so you dont have to premix from the factory. Mazda reccomend you premix with a rotary engine, the OMP only came about for non enthusiasts who want the car as nothing more than a means of transport and dont see the whole rotary engine/performance side to it.
You are doing your engine a FAVOUR by ditching the OMP and running premix. |
