Which Ecu ?

I sold my AUTRONIC SM2 ECU with the intention of upgrading to the SM4 . I totally loved the SM2 , but I want the added features and capabilities of the SM4 . Although I am 80% decided on the SM4 , I would still like to hear what you guys might have to say about the other choices out there. This ECU change is going to be my last , so "I want to be sure I get it right.

Anyone ??

calculon Mar 19, 2008 08:45 AM

More information would be nice. Applicaiton details? Budget? For what it's worth, I really like my e11v2, but my setup is pretty straightforward.

I'm slightly biased... but I've always heard good things about autronic too..

crispeed Mar 19, 2008 11:01 AM

How about choosing your tuner first. No matter which ecu you choose you're going to need someone with the experience to get the most from any ecu.

frode Mar 19, 2008 01:28 PM

I love my Autronic SM4, traded my SM2 for it :)

Will never use anything than Autronic.

As usual crispeed are right on the money. No use getting a ecu your tuner wont touch.

If your familiar with the SM2 already why look anywhere else?

I agree.....seems like your shooting yourself in the foot.

I like Autronic , but I am not familiar with the SM4 yet , and I cant seem to get hold of a user manual before I actually buy it.

I know , but I just want to ensure I consider EVERYTHING , before I make the move , since I intend this to be my LAST redesign !

enzo250 Mar 20, 2008 08:32 AM

I would say SM4. You already used the SM2 so you'll be fine with SM4 since it still has the autronic style your used to.
SM4's have many more options and flexablitity then the SM2's.

Marcel Burkett Mar 20, 2008 06:40 PM

Hi Enzo , can you tell me why the user manual isnt available for download ?

I see that the HALTECH brands are winning , is this because most of you are more familiar with the their products ?

Marcel Burkett Mar 24, 2008 08:31 AM

After having a look at both the E8 and the E11 , they really remind me of my old E6K , in that they are still "basic" in their capabilities ! Dont get me wrong , they are both good and capable of doing the job , but next to an SM4 they pale in comparison ! Thanks for all the votes guys ..........., I think I'll stick with the autronic!

has anyone used those ecu i saw theres a fc on there i think its a 3 rotor turbo

Marcel Burkett Mar 30, 2008 03:22 PM

Nice ECU ! certainly an option !

CrackHeadMel Mar 30, 2008 04:19 PM

What options do you want in your ecu?
internal logging?
knock sensing?
how many user definable inputs?
how many outputs?
budget?

im biased with wolf personally, i like the system, the software is easily browsable and 'makes sense' if that makes any sense

on the same token, if your familair with autoronic's product, and have no problems with it, and it will do what you want, id go with that.

Marcel Burkett Apr 5, 2008 06:05 PM

I was told to wait on the, ViPEC range of ECU. V44 and V88 models , it should be good.

Marcel Burkett Jun 15, 2008 10:52 AM

Why did you choose that EMS? I assume you are not going to use split ignition timing?
