Ecu ??

Hi guys, I am very unfamiliar with ECU. Maybe someone could explain it to me. What are the advantages of changing it ?

Thanks

Basically, the problem is once you begin to open up the air flow of the car (like exhaust replacement and intake), the stock ECU won't be able to increase the needed fuel to match the amount of air coming in. You'll run lean and risk detonation and harming (read killing) the motor (someone can jump in an explain it in more detail ;)).

The ECU needs to be upgraded to match your upgraded components so it can provide the correct mixture.

Depending on how much you plan to upgrade, a simple chip replacement like Pettit, M2, GForce are good. If you plan on doing some more involved mods like going Single Turbo's (or you just want more control), you can go for the programmable replacement units like Haltech and the rest.

IMO, unless you have a dyno or other equipment to test your changes (or someone to program the unit for you), I would stay away from the programmable units. Without proper programming, you'll kill your engine.
