Binary image of FD CPU code?

Does anybody have on file the binary image of the FD ECU code?

Preferably non-cali 5 speed.

Willing to accept other codes.

Good luck. The executable code for this ECU is stored in the on-board ROM of the microcontroller. I'm not sure if there's a way to read it out of this processor, but even if there is...what would you do with it?

I know where it is, but the chip was unreadable, likely damaged in the removal process.

I have a friend that is can hack pretty much any ECU (his hobby), and he wants to do it for me.

He has successfully hacked the GM ecu, as well as one for a Nissan 300zx. He has all the hardware (emulators/burners and spare chips), but wants/needs the code.

He can tune with a WB02 sensor, which I have, and there are alot of outputs/inputs on our ECU that we can use for pretty much whatever we want. i.e. intercooler sprayer/fans based on inlet/outlet temps, water injection, again based on intake temps, fan control, change from MAP sensor to MAF sensor, control different injectors etc etc etc. As well he has a great code for wastegate solenoid control off of a Lotus Carlton ECU that he uses for wastegate control.

The stock ECUs are so incredibly versatile, you just need a genius to hack them (which I have access to). :)

He has all the information on the actual chip design and knows how to find his way around the ECU, just needs the source code. I am expecting another ECU to arrive (don't work on the one in the car) that he will get the code off of, but was hoping for something sooner.

Worst case scenario is just read it off my ECU with a bunch of clips and wires :(

I will keep you posted.

We already have the benchtop ECU setup with all the injectors/appropriate sensors etc, and just need to start reverse engineering. :)

Definitely post updates. If your genius can really do this, it should be fascinating.

I've been doing it for years with Nissan ECUs.
I also have 3 chipped FD ECUs here and a unknown brand performance chip also.

Getting the data is easy.. doing something with it is the hard part as I'm not aware or any address files to point Rom editing software to the locations in the map such as speed cut etc.

Do you have a bin file that I could use? Still waiting for an ECU to arrive.

Do you use a benchtop ECU with all the appropriate sensors/injectors/inputs to reverse engineer.

binary image of the FD ECU code?

are you talking about the binary rom image on the ROM chips? 27c256 or the 27c512?

synapsis Nov 24, 2003 05:51 PM

I've been hacking the ECU in my 90 Chevy Camaro for about 2 years. Being able to get a precise tune for any modifications I've done (and disabling some smog systems) proved to be invaluable, especially for only $150 in equipment.

I'd also be interested in the binary image to a 5 speed federal ECU. I could recode it to skip over some of the parts my VW wouldn't have. :)

pay for shipping and i'll donate an ECU for you to play with

the_saint Nov 26, 2003 11:44 AM

I will take that ECU, check your PM.

Of course I lose this thread and miss out on an ECU to experiment with. :) Early birds....

93 R1 Nov 29, 2003 11:25 AM

I have one also...$25 shipped

the_saint Nov 29, 2003 05:43 PM

93r1 I will take that one also :) if it is a 5 speed, non cali ecu.

I have a Knightsports chip and 3 unknown brand aftermarkets, also a MINEs ECU.
Unfortunately I won't give them away as I have an earner chipping Mitsis, Nissans and Mazdas.. though, I can supply/fit them at a cost ;)

the_saint Dec 7, 2003 12:27 PM

matt rc-racing: some of the knightsports chips on the internet are just the stock chip :(

Mine are not off the internet.. remember, I've been playing with Nissan chips for years also.

I guess you changed your mind?

synapsis Dec 8, 2003 06:17 PM

If it's 5-speed, non-cali.. I'll take it for 25$.

PM me.

And I'll actually take it. ;)
