A'Pexi or Microtech

Are these two fuel computers different? It seems like the S-AFC is a piggy back setup and the Microtech is more a Stand Alone setup. Am I right?

I do plan on purchasing one or the other. So i m just looking for input on both. Does one system do more than the other or are they similar.

and by the way money isnt a concern. i just want to knoe if they compare as far as tuning is concered

As far as im aware the sfac is only a fuel controller that mods the fuel flow of the standard ecu,

the microtech is a full replacment ecu that controls both fuel and ignation and you no longer have to have the standard ecu in the car,

if you have a FD there is a plug and play version of the microtech.

so as far as tuning is concerened I would have more capability with Microtech?

Yep, that's right.

The two aren't even the same. It's not even fair to the S-afc to be compaired w/ the Microtech.

It's like a big wheel racing a RX-7.

Yes you will have heaps more tunability with the microtech, the biggest advantage is you will be able to change your ignitian timing with a sfac you cant change it.

The S-AFC alters the airflow meter signal to trick the ECU into injecting more or less fuel.

With a Microtech, you don't have an AFM at all. :)

A'PEXi 7 Jun 29, 2003 10:49 PM

and i heard the microtech system can adjust the rev limiter to 9k and sometymes 11k........is that BS or the truth?????

Question with the Microtech, does it control boost properly or do I have to use a boost controller?

Mike, from my limited knowledge of the MicroTech, yes you can control the fuelling and the RPM limit.

apexi7,

yes you can control how much fuel goes into the motor,
you can set the rev limit to where ever you want, any where from 0rpm to 16,000 rpm

you can have boost control setup on the microtech to use a standard s4/5 type soloniod

Apex'i PFC is a better comparison with Microtech, but only with all the optional equipment, like the commander and datalogit. Of course at twice the cost.....
