why?

why the fuck does everyone drift with their headlights up? does it give you a multiplier x10 for more points? not saying you guys do it but i have been noticing it alot on the internet.

just curious

Tatakai Oct 28, 2008 02:32 AM

i rarely do.

but every once in a while i drive around with them up. dunno why, just feel like it.

i think ive only drifted with them up at like 2 events this year. out of the 2 per month from april to october.

CyborgRyu Oct 28, 2008 09:16 AM

Because motor was removed for weight savings?

DRFT_HRD Oct 28, 2008 11:35 AM

im 6'4 so mine get turned on when im drifting every once in a while.

Turbo II Rotor Oct 28, 2008 03:47 PM

Idk, I don't even put them up at night at the track. I just pull the retractor fuse and let them shine through the FTP, that with the track lights is more then fine.

junito1 Oct 28, 2008 04:21 PM

My headlight motor are f-ed up. SO i rigged them to stay up all the time, since I used to daily drive it.

Now that i have a maxima as my DD, i probably going to lower them.

Oun Oct 28, 2008 07:40 PM

alot of tracked cars remove the motors to save a couple lbs. usually the same guys who remove the hood latch mechanism and just use hood pins.
you get more points for having lazy eye lights cuz its more mad tyte jdm yo!

fcdrifter13 Oct 28, 2008 08:16 PM

As stupid as it sounds I keep mine up for front end location. My racing seat sits down and back and even though I could guess where my front bumper is leaving my headlights up gives me a lil more visual on just where everything is. Kinda dumb but hey I am a lil off in the head.

Please enlighten me as to how thats a bullshit answer. You asked a question, of questionable merit in and of itself. Then you recieved the correct answer and proceed to call bullshit on it. The only thing that one could take away from this logic is your question was bullshit from the very start.

Headlight motors/ retractor mechanisms weight a fair amount. Add to that this weight is in the last place you want extra weight and it pretty much makes its own gravy.

Turbo II Rotor Nov 7, 2008 11:14 PM

So the furthest most part of the car is the last place you want extra weight? The ass end is where you want to pull the most weight from because it moves the most between turns and and significant weight there will cause the car to transfer slower and carry more momentum. Your logic is debunked.

i do the same thing.. lol so your not the only one.

RussTII Nov 8, 2008 12:54 AM

its a bullshit answer because you will never notice. its like 7 lbs combined.

I had an r-magic fixed headlight bumper ans then switched back to stock

guess how much it affected me at the track (and i go quite often)

NONE. the cars physics DID NOT CHANGE AT ALL. the front wheels are so close to the front of the car, that it would be that big off an effect anyway.

think about a FMIC if you have one. did the cars physics change due to the weight balance and not to a little addidtional power...NO, it did not. You can go ahead and try to convince me otherwise, but i will probably never change my mind due to my firsthand experiences

Oun Nov 8, 2008 02:04 AM

i see where your coming from. i just dont get the 240 guys who take off the headlight motors but still keep the back seat. what the shit?
