URAS Tie Rods for the FC/FD

I live in Japan and have access to a URAS catalog. I have seen alot of you guys asking about tie rods, ends, and spacers. So this is my attempt to help you guys out. Uras sells tie rods for the FC. They are about $150 plus shipping to me and then shipping to you guys in the states. Most likely less than $200 total. If anybody is interested let me know and I will get a solid price. I already have them on my car and they do make a difference. I was going to take some pictures but i was impatient and installed them before i got my camera. But i guess i can take some pictures of them installed if anybody wants. So feel free to ask me if you guys need/want anything.

Check out these guys. I have the tie rod spacers on my car.

that is expensive as hell for spacers. i paid 40 for nib spacers from a private party. i guess i got a hell of a deal.

Turbo II Rotor 06-16-08 01:55 PM

They don't even come with heim joint tie rod ends like the mazdatrix kit does either.

Ranzo 06-16-08 03:19 PM

Yeah sorry to jack this thread. The ones I posted are just spacers but they are a very solid piece. The Heim joint ends are just that, tie rod ends, has nothing to do with steering angle.

these spacers will require cutting of the tie rod to bring the alignment back in. However they do give a tremendous amount of steering angle.

a whole tie rod might be better for some of you guys, personally I just think that the whole nissan crowd has gotten everyone thinking they need new tie rods. Nissan tie rods are junk and therefore need to be upgraded so you buy they whole deal and kill two birds with one stone.

RussTII 06-16-08 08:01 PM

The URAS ones are pretty beefy compared to the stock ones. Even for an FC.

DRFT_HRD 06-18-08 05:21 PM

Super now FTW!

we need new rods/ends to get as much angle as they do, not because their junk.

Ranzo 06-19-08 12:34 AM

Yeah that is bologna. FC has more angle that s-13 when both in stock form. This has been debated for years. The tie rod end has nothing to do with angle. Period. The angle comes from the spacer on the inner side of the rod that screws in the rack.

Nissan tie rods are total crap. They break all the friggin time and they are located in a bad place for abuse. The basic point I was trying to make is that you can certainly get by with a spacer on the tie rod and not buy the whole thing.
Second of all most of you need to learn to drive on the stock tie rods before going for more angle. It will make you a better driver in the end.

lol

ive seen some guys cut the spindle where the tie rods joins to, making it shorter, and welding it back on, so its more steering input, more responsiveness because of the shorter throw. Imagine that with more steering angle..omg youll turn into adrift god, get that sick angle...

Tatakai 06-19-08 08:50 AM

haraguchi runs a modified knuckle.

from what ive read, inner tie rod spacer and modified knuckles = maximum anglez

RussTII 06-19-08 04:13 PM

I think shit will rub and render that mod useless.

i scrape my control arms as it is now

and i looked into those and they're like 600 bucks.

burtoncr 06-19-08 05:31 PM

When you upgrade to those knuckles you need to get a wide body, low offset rims, and thinner wheels/tire so that you can use all of the steering angle without hitting the LCA.

Yes Haraguchi used to use a modified knuckle and yes that will give you maximum angle.

As far as hitting the LCA that is just a problem you will have to live with and its not that big a deal since you don't really get that much angle under normal conditions. Going to a skinny wheel is going to kill your ability to hold any sort of speed and control since you will be forced to use a smaller tire, or have a goofy sidewall.

It is not a 600 dollar modification really, and if you have plans of doing Formula D, aftermarket knuckles are not allowed.

If you want to modify the knuckle all you need to do is to weld a tab onto the knucle that will allow the compression fitting for the tie rod, giving you more angle and keeping the tie rod parallel to the LCA.
I believe that has been posted on the forum before, somebody was selling them.

so wait from the way you said that it sounds like for formula d you can't buy aftermarket knuckles, but if you make your own its legit? or is there just no knuckle modification allowed period?

Ranzo 06-20-08 12:37 AM

honestly I would have to go read the book again. The thing is that everybody cuts and welds the knuckles. They also have a disclaimer stating that they can allow basically anything they want even if the rules say otherwise. ie Scion drift car. etc etc.

I know of one aftermarket knuckle that was not allowed for Nissans.

RussTII 06-20-08 12:51 AM

i was talking about aftermarket knuckles from Satoru ( think that was it) they wanted 600 bucks for theirs. But If someone knows where i can get some for cheaper or someone who will perform the machining/welding for me, please let me know. I'd be all over it.

Tatakai 06-20-08 01:44 AM

foresight started doing knuckles when satoru stopped doing it.. not sure if satoru is still doing it or not though.

but the foresight ones look.. sketchy.

there maayy be someone in socal who will start doing this though, depends on whether or not the first set works alright. lol

oh and 326 power as well

dkwasherexd 06-24-08 12:06 AM

anyone sells modified knuckles, or does job on them around socal?? does power by max make em for fcs? or is it just 240s?

RE TurboII 06-26-08 01:23 AM

haha me and martin (powered by max) fabricator were talking about that yesterday on developing some for FC's. were debating whether or not it would be a profitable situation to produce them.

start a group buy

i'd be the first to sign up if its cheap. any idea what the turn around might be? i mean is it an all day process or just a couple hours?

RE TurboII 06-28-08 05:49 AM

not sure yet, hes not even sure if it'll be a very profitable situation as he'll have to have them made in big groups and if its not a hit hes screwed

DRFT_HRD 06-28-08 11:14 PM

well after seeing the ones for the s chasis i would love to have a setup like that for my fc whats the turnaround time for that stuff though.

ALLslowNOshow 06-29-08 11:00 PM

How many set of spindles would have to be modded to be worth it for powered by max? It looks like theres somewhat of a market here from this thread. Well the S13 spindle mod is $400 from what I saw in the thead on zilvia.
