Toyo Proxies streched

Ok I have 225 45 stretched on a 10in rim. Not that much of a stretch really. Im getting a slow leak. Is there any thing I can do to keep the bead from leaking air. The sidewalls are really stiff so alot of the time I cant tell that its low on air.

I figured you guys would know better than the guys in the wheels and tires section.

Pop the tire off the bead and make sure the tire and wheel are both clean where they meet. Since less of the tire bead is touching the wheel with a stretched tire, small bends and dirt/oxidation/rust spots are more likely to let air past the bead.

If you can't get it to seal after cleaning it up, tire shops have a rubbery glue stuff called bead sealer, designed to fill in the gaps.

bead may have been torn on install some stiffer sidewall tires such as run flats are a lot harder to mount and sometimes will rip the bead... take it to any tire place ask them to check it and if need be break it down and seal it could also be a valve stem spray it down with soapy water...

this is my wheel and tire and has no leaks.. really shouldnt have to do with being stretched

Damn that tire is stretched. What size is that. Maybe its really not that stretched I'm use to the tire being square with the rim.

spray your tire down with soapy water, if you see bubbles along the bead then you have a bead leak.
So you should break down your tire, clean the bead and put bead sealer around the bead of the wheel.
easy fix, if you still don't understand, just take your wheels to your local tire shop and tell them you have a bead leak and you would like to get it repaired.

/endthread.

If it is a 3-piece wheel you will need to break it apart and seal the center section of the barrel. it may be leaking through the barrel.

yeah I have a 215/35/18 on 9.5 wides. dont leak at all. the stretch isnt the issue. the bead seems most likely.
