Tire choices for rear and front
 

What do you guys use? What sizes and brands have you used that work well and last/don't chunk?

Personally I use these on my turbo FC
Front
235/40/17 Federal 595's
They have been wearing really well as front tires and the grip is great

Rear
205/xx/16 (used tires/continentals)
205/65/15 Fuzion (?forgot H or Z?)RI's
225/50/17 Falken Azenis ST115

The Fuzion's weren't too bad. They wore pretty well.
The Azenis was gripping too much and I was under-steering instead of losing traction. I ended up needing to clutch and e-brake to kick it loose reliably.

I've found this to be a great mix. I have the grip up front and a bit less in back. I rarely get under steer and I can tear them loose easily.

i drove my buddies t2 w/ 215/45-17 federals all around and loved em. right now im running crap. last event i was running some crappy toyo all seasons all around, as far as the rears go it was ok, but i had NO grip in the front, they showed almost as much wear and tear as the rears did.

next event i'll be running another pair of crappy toyo all season in the rear and a pair of potenza re-03's i've been using in the front- which do work ok.

205/60-15 in the rear
225/45-17 in the front

prefer ADO7, RE01-R, or RT-615's on the front. I have T'S-02 ( or GIII's) on there now and they work fine

dont really care about the back. more worried about the dimensions than anything else.

oh and dunlop direzzas smoke like a mofo if your looking put down some smokey runs.

and whatever i come up with on the rear until i find a set that boils well and wont chunk to bad currently a set of toyo's.

+1 on the Falken 615's. They have amazing dry traction for the price and are very hard and do not chunk.

I run
Front: 17x235x40 Federal 595 RS-R (great for grip in the front, Federal's more $$ tire)
Rear: 17x245x40 Federal 595 SS (great grip in the rear but cheaper. Even wear and low chunking. Good for high speed drifts if your not rich)

I've also tried Fulda tires and they don't chunk bad either.

How much power are you pushing to be able to get those 265's around?

i used to run 215/45 advan ad07s on the front... and 235/45 tyres on the back.. whatever i could get cheapest new at the time..

Dang most of you guys use small tires. I use 235/40/17. ST115's all the way around most of the time. Right now I have pole positions in the front and some Turanza things in the back.

I need to move to a larger tire though. The federals are great for the money, a 235 will work well up to 400hp and you can still carry speed. The stickier tire the better unless you guys are running N/A or something. Then you need to find a tire that will hold high entry speed and not choke off the power either. Probably playing with stretching the tires and air pressure will help.

shit i run 205's on a 15 (N/A) and can bomb it in 3rd with no problem. 17's are going on the FC soon.

Seem to give me plenty of controle for the price. I have yet to have the car come too far around and bite me in the butt yet with them.

Its becuz they need to run that small strecthy hard[hi psi] tire to get the wheel spin for the NA and stock turbo guys.Especialy underpowered guys running big wheels... but for you 300+ guys ,you should wheel spin 255s or larger no problem

Tire size is relevant to your power.

I'm running stock turbo at 12psi. 235's get pretty hard to link drifts together with when they won't break loose as easily.

I think thats plenty for 235's. I ran 255's with stock everything, even the exhaust. it was fine. However, they were some pretty old and cracking tires.

i was running 17's on 225/45/17 and was having some problems holding drifts (bone stock n/a, from way too dirty air filter to rusted exhaust) and after switching to vert rims on what 205/50/15? i became drift king overnight.

everyone was like dude when did you learn to drift. lol
