suspension setup...?

okay, i'm having trouble finding springs for less than $250

and coilovers for less than a grand.

i traded my xbox for my current FC and don't feel like giving an arm and a leg to get a good drift.

it's a '87 GXL (factory lsd) :)

i can do donuts all night but when i'm going 40+ and i try to break them the car leans so bad i feel like i'm on my side

car has 102k blown struts and i feel like i'm on a boat when i dump the clutch.

any suggestions on suspension and where to buy?

s13skank 10-26-09 06:05 PM

K sports, D2, Megans etc. are all under a grand and thyre pretty good

fc3si 10-26-09 06:20 PM

i'm having trouble finding them...

any links?

If your shocks are blown you should cut your springs until you can afford an upgrade since they're already blown.

fc3si 10-26-09 07:05 PM

will i have steering problems if i cut the front springs?

KhanArtisT 10-26-09 07:48 PM

lol...no. Cut all 4 though.

Twins80s 10-26-09 07:51 PM

hopupracing.com always has great prices with free shipping

NoPistons! 10-26-09 11:12 PM

Buy some used shits from here.

I paid $550 for some....oh, this is embarassing. I forgot what they are.

Oh yeah. JIC Magic coils. They have a caddy feel without the caddy roll and go low, low, low.

cis2711 10-27-09 01:17 AM

um you should also get the rear diff inserts that eliminate the DTSS from towing to help maintain traction when going into corners. racing beat and xtremerotaries offer the inserts.

Zenki FC3S 10-27-09 04:03 AM

get ksports. theyre great and offer different spring rates for your needs. there is also a ksport factory in Tempe az... so if you need custom applications they can help out

Kentetsu 10-27-09 09:16 AM

If you just want springs and/or shocks and struts, check out www.re-speed.com

Digi7ech 10-28-09 01:07 PM

Go Ksport. They're local and a cheap coil over.

Contact Fueled down here in Tempe. Todd has the hook up on prices and is a great guy. He WILL beat any price.
www.fueledracing.com

I'm running Kontrol Pro's. I got mine for around $880 due to a price hike at the time. They may be around that or cheaper now.

As for springs. They will NEVER come close to coil overs.

You also want to look into
DTSS Eliminators
New control arm/subframe bushings

Save your money and do it right the first time. Don't get some garbage parts, it's less fun.

Since you're local to K Sport that's probably your best bet.

smokie 10-28-09 08:40 PM

tokiko white (illumina's) you can get them from mazdatrix for about 600 for the full set

Part Shop Max coilovers... walk in with a $1000 cash and bam there you go. there's one two blocks away from my house.

legit coilovers

lifetime warranty on dampening. $100 to get a new set if they blow. 10kfront/8krear spring rate

superrrrr legit. all my friends have them for 240's and i know 3 guys who drive fc's with them. i'm about to pick up a set myself.

IMO the best coilovers money can buy :icon_tup:

Do you know if you can purchase those coilovers with different shocks/springs? I would like to see the prices if I upgraded their coilovers with Koni yellow shocks and perhaps Swift springs. I have always been interested in that Ground control Camber/Caster kit for the FC3S as well. I heard a lot of good things about Max ...thanks for your time!

If you are planning on replacing all the functioning parts of a coilover kit, then perhaps you should be looking elsewhere...

I would recommend DG-5's to anyone/everyone that wants the best setup for off the shelf coilovers.

You could probably build a Penske/Moton set-up that would out perform them, but they are awesome.

Save, buy quality shit, enjoy.

Or buy the cheapest shit, and have the teeth rattled out of your head.

.02 cents.

MORISAKI 11-19-09 05:56 PM

yeah I think your right it would be not very cost effective at that point. oh by the way ...anyone ever use the Stance-PRO coilovers? I like the idea of inverted shocks in the front....

Digi7ech 11-20-09 11:44 AM

I think Jrat's running Stance Pro's.
