Skinniest tire stretched onto a 17x10?

Can anyone tell me the skinniest tire i can run on my 17x10's? As of right now I have 235/40's in the front and 255/40's in the rear.

If anyone could recommend the best bang for your buck drift tires that would be greatly helpful.

I'm broke so the cheaper the tire the better :)

You could stretch a 205-215 on there if you wanted to.

However, that's a double-edged sword, especially if you're making decent power and on an fd, i would run atleast a 225. That would be my personal preference though. My car makes like 140 e-shaft power. FD makes 280 bone stock. My guess from your sig is you may be over that mark substantially. I'm running a 205 stretched on an 8" rim and at 20 lbs of pressure, i can easily slide my car. EASY. Too easy.

I suppose if you are decent at drifting and have the angle to boot then running a 205-215 would be ok if you're looking to save money but what i typed above should be food for though. Take it with a grain of salt, not rule of thumb.

ya i have a t-67 single turbo and am making about 340rwhp with alot of room to go with a good tune. all supporting mods. My only concern is the turbo isn't going to spool fast enough and leave me with no power when i need it. I guess i could just give it a good clutch kick

I need to find some cheap semi decent drift tires now. I need to start practicing

Well, i guess get what you can. Make good friends with the local used tire shops. They'll eventually start cutting you deals and then CALLING YOU when they get tires in that they know you'll want.

Seat time is going to be your best friend.

There are d1 fd's running 450-600hp on turbos from hks t51r's to greddy t88's to garret gt55r's so i wouldn't count your setup out.

The more you drive and learn what your car can and cant do the better off you'll be. That's all i can say to ya.

you have alot of power, 235s and 255 setup is perfect, if anything to small.. I would go with like a good sticky 235 front at 35 psi and a 255/265 and around 40-50 psi rear...
I only have about 200whp and I can drift with 255s... so You should be fine...

anything smaller than a 235 would be aggravating to drive.

you would have no speed and very little control if you had any type of throttle commitment.

pretty much free wheeling and bouncing off the rev limiter
