Seems like that would be the cheapest effective thing to do.

Gahhh I can't wait to see this thing rip man.

ComicArtist 05-31-14 05:57 PM

I can't either haha. Still trying to find a t2 rear end, the deal I had on one fell through

beachFC 05-31-14 08:40 PM

My buddy was selling a complete tii rear subframe. Not sure if he still has it.

What are you doing about a drive shaft?

BoostedChad 06-03-14 01:09 AM

i extended a few shifter housings for some friends. pretty easy.

ComicArtist 06-03-14 08:59 AM

I have a t2 driveshaft that I'll be using the tail part off of, and I need to go grab a driveshaft off an sc300 or something.

Basically my driveshaft guy cuts them up and makes a hybrid

Had the day off so I've been fucking with this.

First off, the mount kit I got had the transmission bracket for an r154, and the mount on a w58 is a few inches farther forward than the 154. So I made this:

And ended up with this, so the transmission is fully bolted up now.

Also ran the wiring to the fuel pump and the starter, so the switch panel and relay board work and shit. Ran the fuel lines to the fuel rail and bypassed the fuel damper, tried to crank it but I think my starter is seized up cause it just clicks.

Also, the engine mounts I got were a tad short, so I put a hockey puck on each side to lift the motor an inch, so the oil pan clears the steering rack just fine now.

I still have a little fuel leak in one of the lines, so tomorrow I'll probably replace that just to get it out of the way. Only things left to get the engine running is to power and ground the ecu, and replace the starter.

Also mounted a tire on this thing. It hits the wheel well though, so it's time to cut out the wells and get overs.

oh shit oh shit oh shit

I need to start doing things too :(

ComicArtist 07-02-14 09:07 PM

So this thing runs

It's idling super high due to a issue with the ISCV. It's not getting 12v where it's supposed to and the ECU isn't putting out the ground signals to it. Probably going to mess with that tomorrow, I'm satisfied with just getting it to start today.

And somebody still needs to sell me a damn T2 rear end. So far I've bought one, had it stolen, arranged to buy another out of a T2 parts car, and had it end up being an NA rear end. I can't have the driveshaft made until I get the rear end in there.

ComicArtist 07-06-14 10:14 PM

Got the idle problem figured out. The ISCV wasn't getting power or grounds due to some missing wiring, so it just took a few hours of studying the harness and everything works fine now. It's loud as balls with an open downpipe and sounds amazing.

Sooooo now I need to fab up my intercooler setup, radiator brackets, bash bars, run the engine wiring through the firewall, and have a driveshaft made.

Got the intercooler yesterday, I ordered all the couplers and tbolt clamps to fit accordingly, they're still trickling in.

This is basically how the IC fitment will be. I'm cutting out the bumper support and building my own, which will give me more strength and a little more clearance as well. The charge pipe will have a funky bend in it, so I'll have to cut up some pipe and have it all tigged up. Basically with this setup I'm hoping to get a ridiculously quick spool time, possibly at the sacrifice of some intake air temps. Still it should work better than the front mounts that everyone does.

Piping and my cast 45* came in today. Took a buddy's advice and cut up the turbo outlet on the hot side and used the cast 45* to run the piping straight into the intercooler. Just have to have it all tigged up now.

Got started on radiator placement yesterday.

Attachment 640976

You can still access the radiator filler neck behind the intercooler, but I'm probably going to go ahead and install a swirl/surge tank just to make bleeding the system easier. Anyone have experience with the GReddy style/Circuit Sports tanks?
