so instead of playing call of duty I worked on my car yesterday.
took off the front sway bar, added a little preload in the rear and dialed in my tire pressure all around. night and day difference. XNOFRONTSWAYBARCREWX So what is everyones feelings on the brands of coilovers? Right know I have some ksports which for the most part do the job. Well they make the car low and bounce over any bump. I was thinking of getting some stance or tein coilovers since I am not much of a cheap ass anymore. Would that be a good use of money? |
DG-5's.

I run Tein Flex. I like them cause they're not too rough to DD
|
I have PSM coilovers and I LOVE them. They go soooo nice and low and have great dampening adjustability and a spring rate that its nice and stiff but still very streetable thanks to the well tuned dampers. The guys at PSM are great to deal with and really quick to help with any questions you may have. The coils are also pretty cheap so the have real good bang for you're buck! Just my 2 cents...

what is PSM?
not powered by max, right |
^^ Nope it is.
PSM= Parts Shop Max |

Once my unrebuildable Kei Office dampeners go I'll be purchasing a set. Do you still have to droop the spring to get the car somewhat low in the rear?
You could lay frame with them before drooping springs. They come with Swift springs as well, right out of the box. |
Awesome, I know what I'll be getting now once I'm in need of replacements.
|
What do you guys think about the energy suspension bushing kit? Any benefit for use in drifting?
|
You can run the front control arm bushings... so you don't really need the full "kit".
If you are still running sway bars, you'd be better off with adjustable links w/ sphericals, as you can adjust your preload, with driver in car, so there's no biasing on the bar. If you are not planning on going to the rear spherical w/ adj. toe arm, then you could run them in the rear, but I'd strongly suggest you save and get the AWR stuff. I'm not currently running sway bars(don't need the sway bar link urethane) Even if I do put sway bars back on, I have the adj. end links. I have the AWR rear set up(don't need trailing arm bushings) I am using the urethane on the front control arm. |
i am also using the urethane on the front control arms... stock on the rear... wish i had funds for that awesome rear setup...
|
daves got a baller rear end!!! didnt you pay $1,700?????
|
Nah, didn't quite spend that much... but it was probably the first drift car with this full set up... EVER.

^are those MMR bushings? and I didn't know they made aftermarket lateral links for the FC? any benefit/noticeable difference?
|
Adjustable toe. IIRC you gain toe in when you lower the rear because of the natural downward angle of the lateral links. Dave knows a lot more about suspension than I do so he can confirm/disprove that.

If spending a few thousand on something as important as suspension seems nuts to you, you shouldnt be drifting.
