making a drifter

Hello,
I have a 87 rx7 that I have done a lot of work to I did a s5 turbo swap and changed all wiring over and the motor has a upgrade knightsports turbo. And Haltech ECU. I did solid motor and trans mounts. And have a s5 turbo II lsd rear end. But what I was wondering is if I need to put in Rear Solid Differential Mounts and Rear Solid Sub frame Bushings. I still need to do a roll cage and suspension. What else do I need to do? And will the stock e brake work? Looking to start drifting next year.
Thanks

coilovers and steering angle, but most importantly- go to an event and drift. all you NEED is a car.

seat timee, welded diff or stock lsd, stock ebrake, some kin of suspension, then ur good to go..

#1 RULE

Make it look good while being low.

you need a diff of some kind. Welded or two way is better than stock LSD. You should get coilovers probably. If you have extra money and want to spoil yourself, get a nice fixed back seat that holds you well. That's all you need.

Make it look good. Don't build another garbage america spec primer black drift car. Get good looking shit, or just keep it stock on the outside and save up for good looking shit.

MODIFIED SPINDLES FOR MINIMUM SPIN-OUTS and MAXIMUM ANGLE. LMK.

^^ angle mods are a bandaid as far as an inexperianced driver... just drive the car in stock trim and correct the things that need correcting... as far as the diff goes get a pinion snubber or when you start kickin the clutch that front diff mount is gonna break

So your saying JTP is an inexperianced driver?:lol:

haha i dont think hes ever driven an fc with modded knuckles... its the only way to drift an fc.

dont get me wrong, ive driven my fc for a year with stock angle and the day i slid it up with angle mods and ksport tie rod ends i loved it.

dcwfc3s Sep 15, 2009 11:32 PM

hahahah you guys are fun. all like knowin everything about drifting.

dcwfc3s Sep 15, 2009 11:39 PM

when you see pawlaks fc drifting with sweet angle, thats all trick camera angles and lighting.
- in person its all fake.
baller steering angle is for forklifts, i get it. your right.

plus- why would you want to have fun when you could NOt have fun a bunch.

ps- just start going to any drift event that you can get to, stay off the street and always have fun.

never listen to Fcnoevil

you so funny haha

ay so dcwfc3s how far do you place the pickup for the tie rod end when you do the mods? i did mine at 3/4 in back and still want more.... i know rack spacers and shit are great but is there a way to place the tie rod wayyy back like an 1 1/4??

dcwfc3s Sep 16, 2009 07:02 AM

^^^nice

yeah i started at 3/4, the spindles i sell are around 1" but they are 'designed' to work with pretty much any setup, including OEM steering.

i mite have a little more angle and i run a 17 x 9 -5 with a 235/40/17 maxxis with no front sway bar, still rubs a little bit.

i have the +25mm fenders that are pretty agressive and my wheel sticks out.

i think rack spacers are dumb and pointless because of akerman*

hiem or rod end style outter tie-rods with height adjustment are pretty sweet.

my car is as low as i can go and still function and ive modified everything so the control arms and tie-rods are level with the ground.

***** a reasonable diff, working ebrake and steering angle mod is a great start.

heres a picture of me using my girlfriends car with 3/4" sectioned spindles, BLOWN oem struts, kgmm springs and my old turbo diff.

Seat isn't needed but it definately helps. I kinda get flopped around in my se seats a little bit however, i'm not driving the car again until i get a better seat and fix my engine problem......

Make sure your clutch meat is good too.

s5 lsd isn't aggressive enough. Find an s4 lsd. They are cheap and effective. Driving a welded diff in a street car is fucking annoying. First hand experience. I got bored and slapped mine in a couple months ago and took it out the next day, even though i haven't even registered the car yet. It's great for drifting but i dont see how people can stand driving daily on one.

DTSS eliminator bushings!!!

Made a world of difference when I had my fc.

RE TurboII Sep 19, 2009 04:39 PM

I have a used s4 TII LSD, you can buy it for $60 + shipping and rebuild it to your passion

i was saying angle mods arent needed for a brand new driver who proably wouldnt be able to hold that much angle anyway... focus on the basics first learn the car... now is that clear enough for you?:dunno:
