Ok so here is the question, how many runs can you guys get in before you have to stop and let it cool down ?

I admit, at events, My car would be at normal at the begining of the run, and 45 seconds later, be close to overheating after a run, wondering if you guys have the same experiences.

and more importantly, how do you guys keep your cars cool. I have seriously been wanting to get a V mount set up really bad for a while now and I have been saving up for it, but I just wonder how it compares to a FMIC as far as cooling goes

youre definately not running cool enough. In tha pics you have an aluminum radiator, any other mods? I now about running in hot temps (June 7th at Firebird was over 110 degrees) and the best thing to get is an aftermarket water temp gauge. you could build an air duct to the rad and fmic, that would direct air toward your cores and cool things a bit. Compare that to all the time and money it would take to do a vmount(hood, intercooler and piping,material for fab, and the fab work itself). Ducting is cheaper and very efficient, but the vmount is pretty gangsta.

i shut it down and push it forward, and pop the hood between runs, but i usually only have this problem on a hot sunny day after doing a couple runs.

ive had some close calls with overheating- blew a coolant hose while drifting and everyone thought the rotary bit the dust. lol. so now i watch it like a hawk.

Electric fan on a switch in my dash.

I've been getting 2-4 short 1/4 mile runs before I have to give it a cool down lap.
It's been 100-110 here at night.

I'll do a easy lap to get the most heat gone and then if needed I'll go park and pop the hood for a few minutes.

I can't wait till I install my Taurus E-fan so I can switch that on even with the motor off(although coolant still flowing is a key in cooling)

i have a mean ass vented hood and a koyo rad. before and after my runs i usually have someone spray my front mount and radiator with water. you can buy the 1 gallon pesticide sprayers from home depot. but fill it with water of course. my temps still go up, but if i dont spray it, it will amost overheat. best $10 cooling mod ever lol.

focus more on keeping the oil temps down. run dual stock oil coolers you should be fine. i ran stock rad last year with dual oil coolers with ducting and could do multiple back to back runs with oil temps not going over 210

Oil coolers!! 2 of my next mods will be a dual setup with puller fans on them. Im not doing stock coolers tho.

yea i really do want to do that, but i need to do some more research on how to do it

i havent done any drifting in my new car, just been saving up and trying to doing everything in a reliable way so when i do go to the track, i am not afraid to push it to the limit :)

i just did a quick search, and couldn't find any dual oil cooler kits for the FC; anyone know where/who?

definately on my list of future upgrades

get 2 singles and plumb them in series. Inlet from engine to one, outlet from that one, to the inlet of the other, then from there to the inlet of the engine. :D

i agree with Derek. its all about the oil temps. That and ducting.

In my experience, if you can find a way to keep the oil temps down everything else will stay down with it.

My Setup:
4 core FMIC
Koyo Rad
All of the factory undertrays still installed
A/C removed
Stock oil cooler
Stock fan and shroud (most e-fans suck ass compared to the stock setup)
Foresight Front bumper.

I can usually go all out for 5 laps (linking the entire track) before i do a couple cool down laps. Takes about a minute to get around the track i drift at. But i quit drifting at 90*C. My usual driving around town temps are 78*C-82*C on the Power FC. And the pesticide sprayer really cuts down on cool down times. It doesnt really let me stay out longer, but i can get back out quicker.

Or you can drift all day in the rain and never got hot. good times

I'm running the stock oil cooler with an FD oil cooler plumbed in extra. 3 core radiator, A/C all removed, Nissan Pulsar twin elec. fan, and my biggest helper...ERC bonnet which directs most air flow down between the engine and fan intake.
With all this I can stay out for about 20 minutes without having to pull off for a cool down. If you don't care so much about your car you can go the route of this crazy guy I saw at Ebisu. He would come flying into the pits with his bonnet popped and his buddy would douse the entire engine while it was running for about 2 mins and then he would just take off an give 'er hell again. It was insane and he did this for over an hour! Balls to the walls drifting. :)
