Hydro e-brake: pass-through vs. standalone
 

Not going to run a stock ebrake so don't even mention it.

Ideally a dual caliper standalone system is best, but who has had luck with a pass through setup with the stock rear calipers? I've used those on s13's before and they don't work very well unless you have an upgraded master cylinder and dual piston rear calipers.

Seriously though, if you refuse to keep the stock ebrake, then just do it right the first time. Don't get me wrong, an inline hydro will lock up just fine but if you ever plan on doing any type of brake modulation besides "just ripping that ebrake yo!" to enter a turn(i.e. left foot braking for more smoke, scrubbing speed, angle adjustment, extending a shallow clipping point, etc) then the backfeeding from an inline system is going to make things that much more unpredictable or at least annoy the shit out of you. Your pedal/handle pressure is going to vary depending on what master cylinder you used last and how much fluid is in one master cylinder or another. It's not a seamless transition. I used the stock, in-line, and separate setups on my car and I can tell you from first hand experience, its not even worth the effort to use an inline.

That's just my opinion, though. I'm sure there's a 100 other people that swear inline is the best.

Use a .625 master and at least 12:1 ratio in the lever. Not the chinese 4:1 ridiculous POS rice levers you can buy on eBay.

As far as the handle setup, I'm looking at either the Parts Shop Max + Wilwood setup or the ASD setup

well im a street drifter on a budget. so inline is the way to go for now of course the duel caliper is the way to go just depends on what your money looks like .... and by the way where did u buy the brakets or did u make them....... RUSTll

^race fab makes them man. ive heard very good things about their brackets and may go that route some day. stock works fine for me for now.

If money is short, i think the stock ebrake is fine. I'm pretty sure JTP used his stock ebrake in his green Formula D FC up until it got stolen. If he can compete at that level with the stock setup, we should be able to get along fine at our level.

My stock brake will just NOT FUCKING WORK.

I've bought new rotors, new cable, new pads(twice) trying to get it to work. It worked for like 2 days after the newest rear pads. But now it won't even lock my right rear wheel AT ALL. even if the car is jacked up, it spins freely.

Guess Tony is going to get a PM! haha

If it sucks and you hate how it feels you can always add a set of calipers and a remote reservoir at a later date to make it a stand alone system.

Just wondering what size master cylinder you went with.

I'm not sure if anyone asked but have you made sure the calipers/bleeders are facing up?

^ direction of the calipers wouldn't matter in his case since the stock ebrake is cable driven
