Getting That Good Angle
5 Attachment(s)
Alright so from coming from a bunch of S-chassis to an Rx7. I went to the track expecting to kill it. And found out how the bad the angle was on the fc angle was... the pic below is at full lock :/ and needless to say the Fc suffers from terrible stock angle.
Attachment 660681 Ive noticed that alot of people are always wondering whats our there for angle kits on the fc. So heres a list of angle kits that i know are out the for the FC. I definitely dont know everything about getting max angle so anyone and everyone chime in with your ideas on what works best! It would be nice to know what everyone is running these days as far as an angle kit. For me personally i have GPsports angle kit and am leaning towards running the JTP knuckles but its always good to hear feedback from other drifters! Tie rod ends and rack spacers are going to get you a whopping extra 5 degrees of angle. Don't even bother with that and go ahead and get knuckles.

I have Abercrombie knuckles only. No rod ends, no rack spacers, no extended ball joints, nothing. And I'm more than pleased with my angle. No bumpsteer at full lock or any of that noise. Although I had to be at a -10 offset with my 17x9.5 wheels to not rub.
Attachment 511034 I would go knuckles first and then add other goodies later. |
WOW! Thats actually pretty awesome right there. I had no idea just the knuckles added that much angle

I did have to do some banging on the inner fender wells too. And it's still rubs a little at full lock but not enough to effect the handling.

And Kyle at Mazdatrix used to run them without knuckles. I think for the money, and depending on the purpose of the car (daily/track) they are a good investment. |

yeah Im pretty damn happy with the amount of angle I got out of the mazdatrix kit on stock knuckles... for what its worth here a pic of that setup on full lock.
Wheels are 17x9 + 15 with no spacers. Attachment 756196 |
Have you checked to see if your rubbing Greenrx8? I rubbed pretty good with my 16x8 wheels. They too were at a -10 offset. So i would imagine a +15 with your 9" wide wheel might rub. And if its rubbing, thats means your not getting full use of the angle. Which for just having your mazdatrix kit only, is pretty awesome.

my spindles are homemade in my garage. I use chromolly heim and chromolly studs both 5/8ths. The stud is long to adjust for bumpsteer. I run 18x9.5 -27 offset (no spacer) and still rub a tad bit if i run a 235/40
next im prolly going to make some aluminum inner tie rods, but i dont need anything else... just my spindles and tie rod ends. maybe make a tubular LCA but idk if i can take the time to make a jig and blah blah blah |
