fd needs more angle
 

Been out of the car scene for a little after she was down a year in a half . But now she's back up and I'm starting to do autocross. But always enjoyed sliding in an open lot.. I know the fd angle is horrible and I can't recover many times because of it.. I know there are knuckles that you can change and also heard of fileing down or shorting something around the tie rod something (could be wrong), I don't know anything else, like would I need different inner or outer tie rods. Or even where to get these knucles... not looking for crazy angle just something more I can have fun with and not screw with drive ability.

If you do knuckles, its usually recommended to include outer tie rod ends, and inner rack spacers.

I have modded FD knuckles for sale, but you'd need to source the rack spacers, and adjustable tie rod end links.

Thanks for that. But I'm not looking to buy one thing and have to source others if possible.. do they sell modded knuckles with all that or no matter what you have yo source other parts?

its kind of one of those things you'll just need to piece together a kit..

fc's have a few available kits ready to go. But FDs not so much.

but really. whatever rack spacers yuo can find. just search for fd rx7 steering rack spacers. you will come up with a few. buy a set.

then do the same for tie rod ends. just buy some that are not stock. done.

All you need is OEM tie rods and OEM tie rod ends. I ran this set up with David Campo's knuckles without ANYOTHER mods and my car has excellent angle. The car drives great as well, even while running 1/4" toe out.. I still had enough thread on the inners to feel confident they wouldn't buckle etc.

Why are you running 1/4" toe out???

Because it helps with initiation and turn in. I usually run slightly less, but want to see why everyone else is doing it.

Notice the front end walk at speeds going straight?? My car used to feel super weird going straight with toe out.

Car felt stable up to 130mph @1/8" toe out. Everything in moderation. Too much and it'll make the car twitchy. Fc's are different than fd's.... and you can't expect any car to react exactly the same as another model due to any number of contributing factors AND the fact that is an entirely different platform.
