FC giant F$&king radiators.. What'ya run?
 

Yo fellas. My car is currently under the knife, I've had the stock radiator in there for 2 years now. Everything was fine until I installed my FMIC. Now it hits like 200-207 degrees on the highway. It's fine on the streets, like 55mph and below. I want to throw a huge ass radiator in there. Any one have specs on one?

Looking at a Ron Davis mostly.. If anyone has experience with circle track rads or shit like that, please chime in!

I had a similar problem under hard driving when it was over a 100 degrees outside with an OE (plastic radiator), I have all the shrouds in place including the undertray, and opted to get the Mazadaspeed radiator that i bought thru AWR. over kill... it didnt make it run any cooler under those conditions for me.

if you ask me, all you should need is a good 2 core double pass cross flow type... do you have all the shrouds in place???

are you running any ducting or an undertray? stock fan and shroud? There isn't any reason to go nuts with a giant radiator, but if you do just remember that surface area is better than thickness. You'll be better off with a standard koyo aluminum radiator than some 3.5in thick nascar radiator. When I had FCs I used a 26" wide AFCO that I custom mounted. Shrouding and ducting are vital especially for drifting.

ive got an FD Mishimoto on with my v-mount.... i swear even when its 95* out, the car doesn't get over 195*-200* beating the shit out of it.

i dont have any ducting left really. but it was getting hot on the highway even when i didnt have a front bumper on it.

i dont want to go v-mount.. not yet anyway. There is a ton of space up there, so couldnt i find something wide and thick, and call it a day? I'm also going to do some duct work as well.

I bet if you put the undertray on and cleaned out the stock radiator it would be fine. Don't throw dollars are a problem that can be solved with sense. I wouldn't go over 2-2.5" thick on the radiator, but its all useless if you don't have at least an undertray on it.

yes. undertray and fan shroud will fix your problems.

Ill be using this with my V mount. I believe its the same one that JTP has in his light blue FC.

I'm using an AWR BIG ASS radiator like the one up top and have no cooling issues. It's pretty sweet.

went with a four seasons racing,21x19 with a fan, have not had one issue with this radiator

How much did that run you? Looks like a real nice piece.

i want to say it was 190, but i had to weld on brackets to mount it. and you also have to order a radiator cap which i just went up to a local parts store and got

+1 koyo. best drop in radiator on the market. went from a cheap cx-racing that would lead to overheating all the time at the track (in the summer only got about 5 runs before i would need to cool down) to the koyo that lets me get a couple more runs in but cools down A LOT faster.

Even my n.a would creep up in temperature when i would go on the highway. Installed an undertray and never had that problem again. Start with an undertray, its pretty important.

Hands down... Shook Motorsports. It is essentially the same as the old K2RD radiator. It bolts in to the factory spot. You may need to modify your AC lines (if you're running it). It is the largest core you can fit between the frame rails. :) I've been running mine for years with ZERO issues from it.

The price was $329 when I got mine. That may have changed slightly.

Not that an undertray doesn't help but my car hasn't had one since Iv had it and Iv never had any issues with overheating. Well I have but a water pump belt getting mysteriously chewed up twice had nothing to do with my lack of undertray. Even when beating the piss out of it Sliding around and running the freeways. I think if you're having overheating issues a missing undertray is the least of your problems.

Koyo + Electric water pump, never have a problem again. (even on 110+ F days down here)

What brand? Ive been looking into this but ive heard bad stories about pumps going bad.
