ebrake is dead, changed to new pads, adjusted
 

well after awhile my ebrake started to die, I just keep tightening the handbrake screw. Now its already tightened all the way, so I changed new rear pads. I had to compress the piston all the way in and turn it in to fit the new pads. Some reason the pads feel like its worst than the old pads. It doesnt lock at all. I tried tightening the cable from the rear calipers and at the handle, I tried turning the piston far out as much as it can go ,able to fit the pads at the same time, still no good.. It does brake, but not hard enough... if i try clutching in and hand brake and foot brake same time itl probably just lock up the front..
damnit what should I do guys?

Is this because the pads are breaking in? the rotors look fine.. idk what the prob is..
should I just go hydro?? how hard is it to go hydro?

I miss my ebrake...It used to lock like a champion with the stock brake pads. now its gay

I've found that you should loosen the ebrake handle screw all the way, then tighten the adjuster at the caliper. Then you tighten the screw at the handle to taste, depending on how you want the handle to feel. That seemed to work for me.


So basically tighten the caliper first, then tighten the handle.

I tried that, I tightened the cable on the calipers all the way, and even tightened the handbrake all the way. The ebrake handle feels super tight and I think its even dragging just driving normal, when I pull it it tires to lock but no lock... idk , my ebrake just totally died

Hydro.

use racing pads,a little expensive but better when they heat up.....
I use the hawk blues you can buy them on m mazdatrix....
i still use the stock e brake and they feel good...

did you turn your rotors?

if you dont mind spending a good amount get Brig pads

alrite so I went to lucky 7 and pulled a whole ebrake cable assembly out from a low mileage shell, I might come back for that clean black dash too hehe. Hopefully its just the cables.. if replacing the cables do not work, hydro will be a must...

I think the pads are just breaking in. Give it some time and some miles and it'll start locking up eventually. I had the same issue when I changed my pads/rotors and after a few hundred miles the ebrake locks up like a champ again.

+1 stretched cable, it's an relatively easy fix once you have the exhaust and driveshaft out of the way lol. Replace the cable and you'll be good as soon, same happened to me in my first track car few years back.

I redid mine a while back and when i get bored and feel like doing shit i shouldn't i'll go drifting. I did a few figure 8's and long manji's down my street, cut a donut and was going about 15mph approaching my driveway and went to ebrake into it.

NOTHING. It was gay. Keeps the car parked just fine but no longer locks. It worked fine with worn out pads nearly metal on metal. You think it would bite harder with thicker, new pads. I adjusted my cables as well. Even went as far to spray teflon lube in the cable housings.

It no worky.
