Dead muppet shift boot? Originality points.

The spelling in this thread is atrocious. Also, this is your e-brake we're talking about. The thing that keeps your car from rolling down a hill when you're not in it. Is this something one really wants to "budget"?
I think you're better off paying the $15 for an e-brake button. |
might have to put this on the list for things to do once i arrive at the track and b4 i leave the track.
how did you rid that handle. and penny button does not effect e-break function.
That's a hydro handbrake. You bolt the shit down wherever you feel like it, plumb your lines and presto. You have that or any other design or setup you can think of. Good setup keeping both considering you can't jab the brakes and hit the hydro at the same time.
Your write up helped someone! Thank you dude. I'm all for getting the job done for cheaps!

I think you're better off paying the $15 for an e-brake button. You could just keep a piece of pipe or a block of wood in your car to put under the tires when parked if you're not man enough to pull the handle forward to get the penny off the button Yes, this is shit someone REALLY wants to "budget". $15 saved to buy smokes and beer to support my rock n roll lifestyle. I was bored and had insomnia last night so while drilling a billiard ball for a shift knob (free counterweighted knob....because i'm cheap) i spotted a penny in the recess for the idiot cluster. I cut the leather wrap off my e-brake handle and then slid the plastic handle underneath off. Penny works splendid. I'll replace it with a bottle cap when i find one worthy. |
thanks man

Cool. More rules. I'm still putting a hydro in my car. I have no desire to go into debt building my car to formula d spec.

so much fail in that first post...
not only did you waste a penny... but you are now stuck never having an ebrake... if you remove the little rod/spring when you un-screw your button, you can pull it all out, and then your ebrake is free, and wont/can never lock on its own. one reason why i straight up removed all that crap is because revving to 8k, and dumping clutch with your ebrake fucking stuck up, sucks so bad... if you remove all that crap, you can still use that bottom lever on the serated little gear thing to lock your ebrake up with ypur finger, and when you want to release it from locked, you just pull the handle up and it releases... ill post a pic tomorrow. take that crap out before you blow your tranny or DS or some dumb shit. |
It works exactly as he said it does. The ratchet mech can't work if the penny is against the button. Pull the handle off the button and presto, parking brake.
Never having an e-brake? Lol. |
thank you
Isn't it funny when "infected panda" did this mod and explained how to have an operational E-brake, but everyone totally overlooked that, until somebody else actually did it?
ya
:banghead:
No, it's just so simple, easy, fast and ghetto it MUST not work properly....... I love car forums.
I bet if you used one of those gold Sacajawea dollar coins people would be all over this shit. BLING! http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...old-dollar.jpg That's not a bad idea but alas, it wont fit. |
that baby looks like the thing growing out of that dudes chest on total recall.
Quade! Open your mind!
yah and that chick with 3 boobs in that MESSED UP BAR. nuge
works on 240s as well good write up thanks
It does look like that baby haha
i know my sifi, got that mess on vhs, snookans!
yup should of never shut off those fans
You know what I do? best of both worlds. Duct tape a penny on the top of the button for the event, and then take the duct tape off when you want to use it during the day as a parking break.
penny in the handdle alows you to use your ebreak, and duct tape could slip off
duct tape makes the handle sticky. i made my own drift knob too. i work at a machine shop, so i just turned it on the lathe, and then tapped it for my ebrake. works awesome. i do like the penny mod.
^ got pics of your mod?
ya could i get one
hmm. i could probably pull off something. whats your thread pitch, i drive an is300 so mine might be different. i can take pics tomorrow if you like, but i'm not going outside tonight.
no rush. thanks
Penny wasn't working out to well. My handle has some plastic thing in the end and that along with the penny went flying messing with it (going to have some fun in the next hour or so after i remove lo.se items from the car and gas up). I took a pedal cap that fell off my bike and jammed it in there. Problem solved. I'll do a write up in this thread just incase you guys have the same style handle i do and want to be a cheap ass.
my drift knob. plain aluminum. threaded for my IS300, and turned down to the size of my button hole on the lever.

That's pretty trick.
Used lathes are rather cheap if you buy manual ones. Hell even new ones from china are cheap....probably not as durable but i want one so i can make cool trinkets like that. Anyway here's my gay shit. http://www.alltelmypics.net/photos/p...434e027f03.jpg See bmx bike? See fc? Good. Lets combine and happy. http://www.alltelmypics.net/photos/p...6d1ec881aa.jpg Technically any 9/16" spindle pedals should work. I didn't take a picture of the cap itself but it's got a ridge that fits inside the pedal and a recess to keep it locked in there. Mine fell out of the other pedal because i do pedal grinds.... A flathead or pick usually works to get these out. http://www.alltelmypics.net/photos/p...1e5a4423b4.jpg Push it in. It's a bit of a smaller bore then the pedal it's suppose to fit in so it wont fly out. I took this halfway into beating it onto the handle with a hammer. Lol. It's not cool, clean, smooth or anything but it gets the job done no frills. |
