Car wont turn over!!!!

My current 1987 mazda rx7 was fully gutted for paint, I removed all the heater core and a/c units. When I painted everything and started to re-assemble I removed all interior wiring that I was not using and shortened the existing wires. I also relocated the battery to the trunk.

When I finally went to start the car I have no crank, The starter is not even turning over. I measured 12 v at the starter (big red wire) and the other small wire I measured 0v (even while someone was turning the key). I am not sure what else it could be as I didn't touch anything in the motor.

any help is greatly appreciated

Sounds like you took out the signal wire to the starter, you can run one from your start circuit on your tumbler manually down to the starter. Just make sure your ecu is also getting the signal as there is a signal wire for it also. I believe the wire color is black/red.

start circuit on the tumbler?

I traced the signal wire from starter, it was going to an empty plug where I read 12V when the key was turned.

I cant find ANYWHERE for this plug to go, doesn't there have to be a relay?

Go right to where you put your key in, and there should be 4 (if I remember correctly) wires on the back of the tumbler(where you put your key in). From what I remember the start signal is black with a red stripe; splice into that wire that has most likely been compromised (check with a test light to confirm the start circuit color) and run your own to the starter solenoid (the small post that will work with a female crimp connector about 12-16 gauge) and also to your ecu. Very simple fix.

Ok I did that and got power to the starter!!!

Now my fuel pump is not coming on (I tested the pump and the relay manually, there fine).

I am also getting no spark while thr engine is cranking.

There are a number of plugs that do not connect to anything because all of the heater core etc have been removed. This is getting really frustrating!!!!

If anyone has any ideas of where to look I have to get this thing started

Thanks

Im stuck at where else to look, I really dont want to pull the dash again.

does anyone know the best approach to troubleshooting this issue? Im literally stuck and my nardi wheel + quicktilt and seats just came in im dying to get out on the track.

I THINK I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!

I disconnected the ecu and measured voltage at pins 20 and 57 which are the battery positive voltage and am getting 0v.

Now these wires go straight through the firewall into the engine bay, I have not really touched anything in the engine bay, other then the battery relocation.

Should I take this whole engine harness apart? When should I be looking?

Thanks
