Budget Drift car ... E30 ?

Been trying to buy a car I can drift & DD.. there are hardly ANY 240s where I live, (Maybe 3 on CL) and i'm looking for a car under 2 grand.
So, onto e30s.. will they drift with a stock motor? which model would be best? 325i, 325e, or 318i? I read that the 325e was the low reving motor, made for fuel efficiency so I don't think that would be the way to go.

Or any ideas on any other cars? I'm out of them.
Rotaries are out of the question for me.

thanks

I've always liked the e30s, not much of a fan of other bmw's though. :P
But what do you think?

If you ask me, I think you should ask the question on a Bimmer forum :)

I recently become a BMW hater, after my E46 starts making some ridiculous electrical and mechanical problems.... You will never hear any good words from me related to any BMW at all...

E30 and budget don't belong in the same sentence.

That being said, they look cool so go for it

Also this is an rx7 forum

I've heard nothing but good about them, figured i'd ask
but i know, this is the drifting section though, didn't see a problem, it's a common drift car, & i'm sure alot of the drifters know about them than i do.

You should check out an E30 forum, just saying
I doubt you will find much information here.

You will never find a much more competitve beater car than an $1800-$2500 turboII FC

Where am I?

I can give ya feedback since i had one as a drift project for about 3 months until i sold to a friend lol. Anyways there is a couple different models to choose from. 325e(stands for economy model) came with 2.7 inline 6 with a measly 130 hp, 325i and 325is came with anywhere from 130-160hp. I myself had the 325e and welded diff, gutted it, straight exhaust, and some raceland coils. It was going to just be a cheap drift build i was doing since i always wanted to try the e30.

Well for one thing.. Working on a e30 is a b!tch.. All the bolts are either torq bolts or allen bolts which gets quite annoyinh, along with the fact that most of the parts for a e30 or pretty damn expensive too. Also the stock engines were pretty weak on power unless they were built or boosted.. although they were weak my 325e motor was bullet proof and just wouldnt die whatsoever. Had over 320k miles on and i beat the crap out of it and it still just keeps on going no problem lol.

As far as drifting it... this where i hated it. I have previously had multiple s13s and my daily is a 350z as well as my track car which is a SR20 swapped FC. I have a good amount of experiance with drifting and my first time at the track with the e30 wasnt good. As soon as i would clutch kick to initiate a drift it would spin out just as quick as i kicked. Seems like when you gut them they get very light and unstable. Needless to say, it was a pretty boring day at the track and after that i immediatly sold it to a friend who actually is still using it and tryin to learn how to drift with it lol. Hes also put sandbags in the back which helped out considerably with the spinning out. Although he hasnt taken it to the track yet

In my opinion if ur deadset on drifting it then pick up a 325is. Weld the diff, throw on coils, do any maintenance it needs, and go kill it. Also there is a bunch of swaps for this car including a m50 which came out of the e46 3 series and can give u the power u need
