bnr stage 2 or 3
 

Hi guys , I'd like to know wich one of these two would be the best choice for drift . i'm planning on runing about 12 lbs of boost and I still want to be able to have a good response , the best spool possible . Also ,I'm wondering if stage 2 can go at higher boost than this cause the boost might go at 14-15 in a year or two and I wouldn't want to change turbo again in to years .

Gimme your advice and opnions on that so I can get to choose the right one right way since they are the same price .

Either or. Doesn't matter.

Both are responsive (oem hotsides with possibly clipped turbine wheels) and have good powerband for drifting.

If they are the same price go with stg3 because it's "one louder".

It will probably outlast the jackie chan gt35r i'm going to waste money on and blow up my engine with in a few months. :D

in the same boat as you not sure which one to go with. it sounds like the 2 is a good choice but for a few more doll hairs you get the 3. JTP drifts on a borg warner or t4 or something rather large so 3 would work too.

BNR s5 stage II and III are the same price. $650 w/core.


Three supports anywhere from 25-30 hp over the two compared to bnr.

That did not make sense.

Stage II supports 25-30hp more according to their site.

Stage III supports 25-30 more hp over the II.

Stage 4 is a hogged out hot side with a bigger turbine wheel for less pre-turbo backpressure.

get a 60mm turbo, long runners on stock ports will make great response. the short runners for the bnr has more speed but less velocity and pressure. long runners will keep the 60mm pressurized and spooling.


you dont go out wasting money on tokico struts and lowering springs, same concept for your turbo

Would short runners on a bp/pp engine be better suited?

no... friend has an fd with Bridgeport and big fucking holset. long ass runners keep it spoolin at very low rpm's.

another friend has a rx3 with bridgeport and gt42r. full alcohol injection, 12 injectors to be exact, and at least 2 to 3 ft of exhaust manifold per runner. turbo feeds directly into throttle body, no plenum.

I was thinking though. If you're going to put a bnr on a long runner manifold, you'd have to get a flange made. I'm pretty sure the op wants to keep his stock cast manifold that we can't quite call a log.....

Where do you do most of your drifting?

Build your car a considering where drift. If its street, id aim for response. for track, id go for high end power.

Everybody whines about reponse but i get along perfectly fine with a 1/2 bp and a TO4R. even in tight spots

Again, i have a feeling the op wants to KEEP his stock manifold and COULD possibly be on a budget of sorts.

lol no pistons.... there are some setups that are kept secret. cant get you the pics of the rx3, the owner wouldnt do such a thing, unless i blurred out the engine. ill show you vid of him pulling a 8 or whatever


Russ i know what you mean. My brothers set up isnt too big, a 62mm with a .84 or something, but the large street port kinda feels laggy till 5. were gonna get the map cleaned up, it might be a lil rich under 5k, and a 4 inch down pipe to open it up. but yeah, either way response isnt even a issue when drifting... i sure as hell never let off throttle and when im back on its way before the turn anyway, let off then half clutch a lil to get rid of lag.

There are people that would kill you to keep you from telling others their porting secrets. Literally pluck out your eyeballs and make you swallow your camera after snapping your memory card in 2.......

Also, i'm in a different area as i have a higher compression ratio. I'm pretty set on NOT running a hybrid ht18.... .82 a/r hotside or bigger for me!

if you are trying to drift under 4.5k rpms (in any rotary) youre doing it wrong

Thread revival but what the hell .. I'm gonna with the stage 3 on stock manifold for the moment and see how it goes . the car is for track only so it should be just fine . I'll let you know how it feels once I try it out

i dont see why anyone would pay $700 for a stockish turbo, and retain the cast turbo manifold that literally boils your LIM IAT temps which is only one of the issues with cast being bolted to aluminum, leading to the death of our motors........

turbo manifold, waste gate, china turbo, oil feed/drain lines and downpipe and youre pretty much done. (assuming you plan to do injectors, tune for your bnr vagina turbo)

i have friends on Ebay manifolds, and china turbos that have lasted 10+ full drift events over the course of a year plus tons of street pulls, and parking lot sessions.

if you decide you HAVE to have some BNR turbo, atleast do water meth just to help keep things safe... pretty soon we're all going to be struggling to find hard parts because of everyone blowing up motors by skimping out...
