Freshly painted black car. How can I clean it?
 

My car has been painted for a week. Yesterday the car got a bit of tree sap on it and I need to remove it. I'm thinking just using water but I'm scared to put swirl marks when I dry it. Any recommendations?

Use spray on wax To clean it.

If I were you, I would want to get wax on that paint STAT. I made the mistake of taking my car to a quick car wash and paint place. The wax they put on wasn't ummm, ideal. Now my hood feels like sand paper even after I wax it myself. If I were you, I would carefully wash the car and put on at least 3 coats of some really high grade wax. Dry with that shamwow stuff. If you have the money though, I would pay a professional detailer to do it for you. I would have but I couldn't find anyone fast enough.

Im guessing that you wet sanded and buffed it out?? If not then from my works with paint(5 years) you shouldnt put wax on it before you wet sand and buff because it takes three times as long and its a big process anyways... so if you didnt wet sand and buff it then i would def. do that first!! for many reasons, gives it a good smooth feel and finish no orange peel any more and then after you finish wet sanding and buffing it the paint will be strong and youl be able to detail t any way you want and you wont have to worry about the swirl effect. And a week should be long enough for the paint to not be sensitive to hands and you wouldnt be able to swirl it anyways. If you are still able to leave impressions in the paint, i would set the car in the sun for a day on a dry day itl speed the process up a ton and then wet sand and buff then apply two to four coats of wax and that will last a good 4-6 months depending on how much you wash your car(1-2 a week is normal).

Smell the paint with it warm, like above 80deg outside, if it still smells like it is curing (you'll know... it smells weird) then DONT WASH OR WAX IT YET the paint is still out-gassing and that process needs to finish before you mess with the paint

use clay bar then wax
from my experience best wax for black cars is black magic from eagle
and another tips, use good quality microfiber for buffing

most paint manufactures suggest no wax for 90 days, why dont you ask the paint shop what to use, chances are they will tell you to bring it in and they will take care of it for you

Maybe a wax & grease remover such as Transtar Scat.

I would personally ask the body shop that did the work what they think because ultimately they are the ones that have to warranty the work years down the road.

Fresh paint should only be washed with water only and a QUALITY shammy (Sham-wow's are amazing for this.)

Paint should be wet sanded and polished 24-48 hours after painting for absolute best results. Stay away from and wax's that have silicone in them.

In our body shop we use a Product called Farecla G3 and G10 you pretty much have a mirror finish apply a high end wax and you'll be laughing

Down fall to non silicone wax is you have to do it every 3-4 months

have you ever used a sham wow? they suck so bad and wait a least a month to wax the car or the paint won't cure properly.

I called the shop that painted the car ans they told me to just use water and a microfiber towel. after that use some quality polish if needed. Well it came off with just water and I used the polish to remove left over water marks. It worked just fine.
