A freaking AMAZING wax product!
 

I purchased this 1994 Mazda RX7 just about a month ago and it was originally a Texas car, it was brought here a few years ago and sat in a guy's yard uncovered and unpampered for 18-24 months with a bad clutch, I picked it up and proceeded to wash it down with liquid soap, claybarred the entire car and performed a meguire's 3 step wax by hand (paint cleaner/polish/carnuba wax), followed by one coat of showcar glaze

Also washed frequently thereafter and constantly touched up with a spray on wax/quick detailer, but something was missing... I understand white isn't the greatest for reflections/depth which I can deal with, but something just wasn't up to par in my mind.

Scottabir stopped by this afternoon, hooked me up with some Poorboy's polish after showing me how incredibly easy it is to use and how much of an improvement it made on a small area with just a quick rubdown, ABOVE AND BEYOND what ALL of the other work I did produced.

Scott and I talked cars awhile and I checked out his Mazda 6, which is absolutely georgous and finely detailed BTW, I would wish everyone locally consult Scott if your car needs professional assistance (high speed wheel etc), he's a stand up guy and he wasn't about to tell me it needed wheeled out when it didn't for a profit, he'll tell you what's up and what to do!

not the greatest time to take pics, but either way you can see the reflections and depth which is HARD to aquire on white!

nice shine, I use p21s paintwork cleanser and their wax, the only thing that has even come close was zaino. My car shines newer than if it were coming from the factor, I really would reccomend p21s, although it is kind of expensive. None the less nice job.

Does it take out swirl marks?!? I have a few bad swirls on my GS400 that I've been trying to get out.

trust me, alot of waxes, polishers say that but never really worked..

i have yet to find one out there that will blow me away..

i still gotta try the 3M thing though, thats my last hope..

i'm as skeptical as you, given the condition it was in AFTER i did claybar/meguires 3 step/showcar glaze and now it looks admittingly better than most cars on the road that aren't owned by detailers, WITHOUT a wheel... you can trust this product for real

hmm So you used that poor boys wax then sealant? Looks nice...the meguiars 3 step completely sucks...in fact it made my car look even worse. Gave it a foggy look. I also have a white car so I know how you feel. So far what I have found to work the best for me is...wash my car with a light dawn solution to strip everything off. (I know its not the smartest) Then washed it with car wash solution. Then I use the meguiars Hi-Tech yellow wax #26, followed by show car glaze polish #7, then to finish everything off Final Inspection # 34...car has a REAL deep shine now. I may try that poorboys stuff since I'm always open to trying new products as long as they dont ruin my paint :D

-oh and double smart points for you on using clay bar..that stuff works amazingly well when applied correctly.

Well, like i said, i too used the showcar glaze as a final ditch effort when i was unhappy, then this guy comes over and i'm SURE i need to wheel it out

he wheeled out a portion of the bumper cover, then applied this polish to another portion

both looked identical, this proved to me it was badass

me too.. black, red, mb..those are the fd colors that will show truely the flaws of the paint..

im telling you guys, try p21s, it is the best wax I have ever tried. Out of 49 independent wax tests they came out on top. It gives your car a very deep crystal like shine. you the paintwork cleanerser(polish) first than the wax and you will see colors in your paint that you never knew existed....

what did you use for sealant? I just waxed with eagleone nano wax today and I was impressed, but I've yet to find a good sealant.

I have a black FD, and not a SINGLE swirl mark (thank God). This is indeed because I only use Zymol wax...it's the expensive high-end stuff that lots of antique car companies use, and I think it's really popular in the NSX crowd too.

I only wax my car about twice a year. Other than that...it's just wash and dry (by hand, myself), and Meguiar's quick detail as/when necessary. I NEVER claybar the car...I did that to my front bumper once at a friend's suggesstion, and it was the WORST thing I ever did. It DEPOSITED all these tiny marks in my front bumper...it's pretty much shot now. But otherwise, the car's paint is in PERFECT condition. Between waxes (about 6 months later), the car does start to develop a bit of swirl marks, but the Zymol makes them disappear...literally. And for months at that.

What's the downside? 1) Price... 2) Time. Zymoling your car takes prob about 4 good hours. That's not including washing, drying etc. Just the Zymol. Check out these 2 pics, and I think you'll get a sense of what I'm talking about. I'm talking about staring into a mirror type of shine...

i always assumed you had a silver one for some reason..but you do know what swirls i mean right?

place your car under direct sunlight, like 2pm sunlight and get right next to your car and look at it from an angle, you will see the swirl marks from the washing and drying that was done to it..

does the zymol get rid of that?

i'm sure the zymol works good too, but i encourage you to try a 14.95$ bottle of this poorboys stuff, peticularly on black! would be amazing

Nope...she's beautiful black :bigthumb: I considered a midnight blue (SUPER dark blue w/ metallic flake, almost looks black) until I realized that it's impossible to touch-up :eek:

No Rob, I have no idea what swirl marks are lol. Dorko, reread my post! lol :) YES, the Zymol gets rid of swirl marks. That's why it's the best. If you check out the NE section, in the DC/VA/MD region, who's the bodyshop that EVERYONE swears by? Mr Spoiler. That's who introduced me to Zymol, and it's the only thing he uses. Byebye swirl marks :wavey:

are you talking about the "Poorboys Polish with Carnuba" can that be found in local auto parts stores or must it be ordered online?

I swear by Zymol too , its all I use on my cars and on the cars I detail (Bodyshop owner) Nothing like a black shiny car. On a side note , waxing never gets rid of swirl marks , it only hides them till the wax wears off and theyll be right there smiling back at you. There are a few things out there that 'cure' swirl marks like the cyclo-buffer it has 2 small wheels spinning in opposite directions that work pretty well with the right pad/product combo.

Yea that's why I said they'll only reappaer months later, around the time she needs another waxing.

I always heard to only use zymol on blue cars.

Dont know if it was true or not, because the only car I had to wax at the time was my Blue 00' Toyota Spyder. Bought the Red FD and switched over to McGuire's which has been working well.

I just had my entire car color sanded and then used my new orbital buffer to apply some Mother's FX wax. I have never seen such clear reflections in my montego paint.
