Dying carpets.. do or dont

Just bought a set of used black carpet for my fc3s... I want them to look brand new, so my question is has anyone dyed fabric succesfully?? what products work best, or am i better off just cleaning it... I want the carpet to be uniform and not faded. Thanks for the help in advance

from past adventures with dying carpets (notice i said adventures) it is just easier and worth the little extra money to buy a new carpet either precut or non precut. either way trimming is needed because none of them ever fit like the oem one. but with dying it usually looks good until u drive the car for a couple weeks then it starts to fade out esp. with sun, i have a vert so its worth buying new carpet that will last longer and look better in the long run.

Just my .02 but have tried some products forgot name at this time and all seem to work for a little but for longer term just buy a new one esp. since u already have it out.

I've tried the spray stuff to change the color of carpet...NOT a good idea. spend the money to have it look good.

Ya i tried the Duplicolor spray recently, looked great for all of 3 days. I've got new carpets now, well worth it.

I would first try shampoo/steam cleaning them.

My carpets went from:

to this..

That was from when I bought the car BTW. My carpets don't ever get like the original condition above.

Go new !! You really can't redo the dying process of making carpet at home.

You can buy dye at any local upholstery shop or grocery store. dilute it a little bit and dab or spray on the carpet, leave in for a few hours and then see your results. its not all that bad.

ive also used a product made by "hi-tech" they have a vinyl, plastic, carpet aerosol dye that i did my entire mazdaspeed3 interior with. great results and super easy to apply.
