Detail of my Oxidized Red FC

Got my new car a couple weeks ago, spent the day after on an exterior detail. Some scratches I couldnt get out but oh well, it is 20 year old paint. AIO alone worked wonders on the oxidation, and I had my first try with Optimum Polish, which after reading some stuff lately about it, was disappointing, application wise (bottle, lumpy polish).

Wash
Clay
AIO on black LC pad
Megs #83 on orange LC pad
OP on white LC pad
Klasse SG
S100

Tires and wells cleaned w/ cut degreaser, dressed wells with Simoniz Tire Foam, dressed tires with E1.

Hood was from another car, horribly dirty before it was washed, and still after it was washed.

What is AIO? It did a wonderful job for you!

Rx Seven 07-10-06 07:15 PM

Great job
How long did it take you to from start to finish?

metal 07-10-06 10:25 PM

AIO is Klasse All in One.

Took about 5-7 hours total :) Heres a little write up of the products that I did for my post on BC Rotary, Ill just copy paste; oh and be sure to visit www.autopia.org and check out the Learn section + forums, you'll learn a lot just from that site.

Theres a variety of different products that work best for different applications. Klasse AIO is a very good chemical cleaner; eg it contains no abrasives, and works wonders against oxidation, and provides some decent protection. Megs #83 is a medium cut polish, best applied via rotary or dual action polisher; it will leave hazing (small small marring) so you'd usually need a lighter polish to eliminate the hazing and bring out your paint more. OP is Optimum Polish, a ligher cut polish that I used after 83 as a finishing polish to bring out the depth a bit more. Klasse SG is a synthetic sealant, so it provides more protection than your conventional carnauba wax. Typically a carnauba will last a month at best, but a sealant will last up to 4-6 months. KSG is known for its protection and incredible shine, well, really good without using Zaino, king of reflectivity. KSG can be layered for more protection and shine; be sure to let it cure for at least 12 hours before applying another coat. S100 is the same as P21S; both are carnauba waxes; I use it to bring more depth on top of my paint when layered over KSG.

metal 07-11-06 03:01 AM

Heyyy, can't say I have tried that. How does it look?

SayNoToPistons 07-11-06 07:28 AM

a lot of people including scottwax on autopia saids thats the best combo for red. looks really really deep and wet in pictures but ive never tried NXT.

metal 07-12-06 02:13 AM

Soap and water HAHAHA J/K :blue:

fcdrifter13 07-17-06 12:53 AM

lol I knew that one I was mainly talking about the minor scratches and such, maybe even those annoying wiper blade marks

KeloidJonesJr. 07-17-06 01:28 AM

I need a clay bar , too. The shiny job is coming along nice, though.

fcdrifter13 07-17-06 02:26 PM

Bump for a how to on cleaning glass.

max07sti 01-04-12 06:28 PM

ArmAnirx7 01-04-12 06:33 PM

Look really good bro

amieles 01-30-12 11:44 AM

Can I get those products at local stores or is that a online thing, any suggestions on white paint?

full-cruise 03-15-12 04:17 PM

looks really good but try some nuts in your liquid bottle and shake it up the nuts will take care of the lums. just a trick the detailers do.

ELBORICUA602 03-26-12 08:07 PM

WOW!!!! I need this done to my red vert ASAP! Honestly it looks like you got a new paint job. I been looking for the past 2 weeks @ AutoZone, PepBoys, O'reillys, etc. for a spray to take off the oxidation but looks like they are pretty much all wax's so imma have to go with what u guys are talking bout. So could i juss use AIO or do i have to at least use a 2-5 step like NXT and #26 on top? whats the clay for? And btw i used to use turtle wax's tire gel but now i cant find it so i use Armor All tire gel with the foam applicator. It always makes your tires look wet the best!
