Before/After FD detail job: WOW!!
 

My 1993 FD was suffering from swirl marks, marring, and a lot of paint defects so I found a detailer whom I had heard was really good and asked him to detail/polish my FD. I will recomend anybody to him (his info is in the link) as his work is A+. Check out the link for pics.

he did a great job. Lol looks like he was more interested in taking pictures of the 7 than taking pictures of his good detailing job.

Very beautiful 7, btw. Is it an R1 or is it a Base with R1 seats?

u know.. u can just detail/polish the car urself. all u need is Times...

Better to let someone else be at fault if the paint gets burned while detailing.

It is an actual R1.

He took a lot of pictures to show the before and afters, but still his total focus was on detailing. He really put 100% effort and did it the best he could. Took him 7 hours in 105 F weather with one 5 min break!!

I guess I could do it myself but its like building motors. The more experience you have, the better the product. I will do the normal washing, waxing ect myself but for buffing/polishing... Ill leave it to the pro's.

How much? I am guessing it was kinda pricey since he drove all the way up from SD.

Maybe we can set up some sort of group thing....so he can knock like 3 cars in one day or something....

Its not rocket science what he did lol... Its called clay, compound, polish and wax. Nice job.

email the OP in the link for pricing. It varies. If you go to his house I would say its ~200 depending on what you want. Price will be higher of course if he comes to you.

Detailing may seem simple but it takes many MANNYY hours on how to efficiently and correctly use a true rotary polisher. No porter cables over here.

Detailing is an art. Not everyone can do it right.

I used to do it as a business, still do for select calls/clients. I try to pay attention to my own car now, i drive it too much though :wallbash: I spent 9 hours cleaning up the engine bay, i just gotta get the PC and Dewalt and do the whole car :lol:

Was any interior, engine work done?

Carbon Blue: You did a real nice job. If it is the factory paint (which it looks like), the Mazda FD and Miata paint is really easy to bring back especially from the dead. However, do not be so quick to shun an orbital polisher. From my experience using a rotary, and orbital together for certain things can get best results.

I know its just little things, but i know that can come out a little cleaner with an orbital finish. (Not trying to knock on your work or the job, just stating from my experience with FD paint.)

Metal: R32, 33 or 34 GT-R?

That doesn't look like hologramming to me, just looks like smear from his LSP. I pretty much only use my PC on soft paint that I can't finish down perfectly via rotary, otherwise, rotary gives an amazingly clear finish if you start using some finishing pads and very very fine polishes like Ultrafina for "jeweling" the paint to perfection. Heres mine:

Aint 100% marr free, but its a daily driver, and the paint isnt perfect anyways, so it doesnt bother me.

thanks alot man, I didnt mean to shun PC's or DA's at all. I should have just reworded what I said. Hell PC's, Flex's and UDMs are what got me more into this OCD hobby of mine :) . Im 100% sure I didnt leave any holograms after doing IPA wipedowns and so forth. I took tons of pics during the whole process even after a orange LC and some SIP (now THOSE were holograms) hahaha. I then cleaned up everthing using UF SE on a grey LC at 1400 then burnished back down to about 900-1000 and used a UDM (speed 3)on a 6.5 grey LC for the P21S.
