How To-- Install the 20B conversion kit.

First off, the motor mounts-

---Passenger side mount---

1st step-- The engine mounts can be bolted into place with the engine out of the car, or once its installed. I personally like it with the engine in the car. If doing while inside the car, use a jack to lift on the transmission, until the mounts are secured.

(1) Locate the upper rear stud on the 20b iron

2) Take two hex nuts and thread onto the end-

(3) Tighten fully together

(4) Remove the stud from rear iron

(5) Place the delrin motor mount into the subframe-

(6) Slide the passenger steel mount onto the studs-

(7) Slide the two spacers (small spacer) over the two lower studs-

(8) Gently tighten two hex nuts--

(9) Slide the (large) spacer inbetween the steel mount and rear housing. Then install the provided bolt with washer into the mount-

(10) Tighten down securely-

Now for the driver side-

(1) Slide the one (medium) spacer on the back lower stud-

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...5&d=1199510070

(2) Place the delrin motor mount into the subframe

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...6&d=1199510070

(3) Slide the driver side steel motor mount onto the studs

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...7&d=1199510070

(4) Slide the two (small) spacers on the upper and lower front studs, and tighten securely

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...&d=11995100700

Then simply use the two Grade 8 bolts, and secure the mounts to the subframe.

And you are done installing the engine mounts!

Does it really cost about $30k for the conversion? And how much cheaper would it be if you do it yourself?

For the conversion kit it is $1670.00 However this is just the beginning of the cost that comes with a 20b. You will need a good 20B longblock, fresh rebuild/port, good standalone, ignition coils, custom ignition wires, custom exhaust, custom intercooler setup, turbo (ITB's if serious N/a), custom oil coolers/lines, custom radiator, lightweight flywheel, upgraded clutch, upgrade fuel pump(s), full dyno tuning, and then all the labor to do it. (and that is just the *main* stuff) Most of the 20B conversions that we have quoted are in the 23-32K range out the door depending on what needs done.

But if you were to do it yourself, around how much are you looking at? It looks like the labor is really what makes it that expensive. Mostly everything else you just mentioned has to be done with every other car that is being well modded. I know those things add up but thats still alot of $. Im just wondering because the 20b conversion seems to be the most expensive conversion to get done.

Its about 5-9k in labor. So a final swap can still be right around 14-20k Doing all your own work.

Im around 9k so far and i still need turbo kit,tec3r,fuel system, exhaust, tune, and all the other little odds and ends. So when its all said and done i'll be around 20k with all the labor done by me except for the rebuild witch Defined Autoworks is doing :titty:<-----haha
