Yes I was. I drove 2 hours down there to hang out and have a good time with some fellow rotary enthusiasts and when I got there the only people that even spoke to me were another 8 owner, and a few girlfriends/wives telling me to get something to eat. Needless to say it didn't give me a good impression of the RX-7 guys. I wasn't expecting everyone to like my car, but I WAS expecting to be able to talk to everyone about all the cars in general. I just hope that the DGRR isn't more of the same.

 

I think I was at the get together... Man, I feel really bad that you felt that way! For us 7 owners, I think its the other way around. I sometimes feel that 8 owners just wants to hangout amoung themselves and not wanting to include other rotaries.. You go look at most 8 gatherings, its starts off by saying "RX8", not "rotary" as in all the rotary cars ever made... And most RX8 owners start their own club!

I do appologize for not going up to you if I was there.. Hope thats not going to happen at the DGRR!!

And I hope to see all of us getting along with each other... Renesis or 10A.. we all worked the same way!

 

That's wild how the two groups think that the other wants nothing to do with them. You have a good point in that a lot of 8 gatherings are intended for 8's only...and I had never really thought about that. I just figured it was because 7 owners didn't like 8's. I do know however that I have NEVER met an 8 owner that didn't like 7's. Hell most all of us absolutely LOVE a good 3rd gen.....and I even like the 1st and 2nd gen 7's. I guess it's not the cars that seperate us though, it's the people........the fact that 7 owners feel that they bought the car because of a love for rotary engines and they quickly become fully customized project cars.............but they think that 8 owners bought the car because it was "cool looking" or "cute" and have no knowledge about the engine that sits in front of them (which is often the case....especially with women owners). If we could all just see each other as "rotary lovers" then we wouldn't have such segregation. Oh well..... I apologize for the small novel....it's just my 2 cents.

I hear ya! I think there is a HUGE misunderstanding between 7 and 8 owners.. Just as some people think most 3rd gen owners are D*cks!.. which is pretty true.. LOL!

But in serious note, I'm organizing this event so we could all get along... even those who have converted over to V8s..
