Video about DGRR Police presence...

I personally believe what the narrator is saying to be more logical than the supposely THP on Myspace.

Please watch this 9 min video and post your thoughts..

Just sounds like a bunch of power hungry, backwoods hillbillies to me. Even though I've never been to the dragon, this makes me not even want to consider it out of sheer complication. I have enough of a problem with law enforcement authorities as it is, but that's a whole other can of worms.

About 6 seconds in..."allegedly, alleged" :rlaugh:

LMAO! oh shit.

Dont speed or drive like a jackass and they dont give you any problems.
I drive it about 3 times a month, its pretty much in my back yard.

They dont fuck with you, unless you do STUPID shit.

and if you dont know the road at all, you DO NOT want to speed on it. It will cost you if you fuck up.. you will hit a bank or go down a BIG ass drop off, or into a tree..
not really a lot of room for an error if your hauling ass.

is this actually serious? I just decided to head out to this, and the last thing i need is my car impounded haha

Jesus. Makes me think twice about driving the Dragon, to be honest. Makes it sound like your chances of getting killed or arrested are pretty damn good :squint:

We beat the Hell out of it last year Rich. In between rainstorms and wet conditions. Just have to use some common sense. No worries. :Kill1: G

I have no idea what that video is talking about. I'm just going to do what I did the last two years. Have fun... and boy did I have some fun last year hahah ;) I don't know why but I have a feeling it might be a little crowed this year which means... speed limit or maybe 10 over is all you'll be able to do. Even then that's a fun ride, especially if it's your first time there. It takes several runs both ways to to be able to halfway learn the Dragon and you still don't really have any business pushing it like a lot of us talk about. Just show up, follow the crowd and have fun. :)

I think the message from "THP" is a bit extreme one way and this video is a bit extreme the other way. As long as we don't go out there and act like a bunch of asses who've seen the Fast and Foolhardy too many times, we should be just fine.

F**k The Police

That vid made my butt hole pucker. Deliverance came to mind. I fear redneck power. I'll have to see how things are when I get there. Very interesting though.

Goodfella, you should come down and run the dragon, I used to live in the area and drove all over the smokey's and east tennesse. But the dragon was the most fun i have ever had in a car. I cant wait to go run it again. Yes the cops will be out, but even then, you wont be able to go much over the speed limit, the road just wont let you. The added benefit of the dragon, is that it is one of the prettiest areas in all of east tennessee, the area has been left un-touched for so long, you get to see why it is the most visited national park in america.

Ok, I was just gonna keep quite and that's why I just said "hmmm" but now I can't.

Those who know me know that I'm a cop. Of course I haven't been a patrolman in several years because I work narcotics but I don't think the comment above helps things at all. But everyone is entitled to their opinions of other people even if they don't know them personally.

I'll be having as much fun as anyone else on the Dragon. I've been going there since 1999 on motorcycles and then for the first time in a FD last year. I've had my encounters with the local police there as well. Actually got a "No Motorcycle License" ticket from a NC Trooper at a roadblock back in 2000.

Anyway, understand that the majority of cops there either have fast bikes or fast cars too and enjoy the road as much as anyone else. The problem is when people decide to take a 35mph curve at 80mph and run off the edge or cross back over into the oncoming lane. You're gonna ticketed for that plain and simple! Also, Passing is a big no, no up there. You guys that have been there no how tight the road is. I've seen bikes slide up under Porsches in blinding curve for trying to pass...not very smart.

I'll admit that I've done some really stupid things there...I'm a cop, yes, but I still have a bike and car addiction and the speed that comes with it. I've almost totaled one bike up there for acting stupid....70mph in a 15mph curve on TL1000R draggin footpegs will do that to you.

One more thing, it's not as heavily patroled as it once was. There have been a few not so good things happen on the Dragon per the cops. One that comes to my head is they put a guy (cop) on a Ninja ZX9R with a helmet cam and the guy road around telling other bikers that he wanted to get them on camera riding curves fast and pulling wheelies. Then he would call a patrol unit to ticket everybody. There over 100 tickets written in a short period of time but they all got thrown out.

Just be careful and have fun but I wouldn't tell the guy in uniform that pulls you over for doing something stupid, "F**K The Police" You might get thrown a beating!
