again, if you have problem with signing a waiver, those need to understand YOU are not part of DGRR.. why? because I cant be responsible.
I'm signing it, because I don't feel like being excluded. Nice to know that we are being bullied at an event that seemed fun at first. I hope the underage people will find a way to participate, who may not be able to contact their parents... not to mention we don't have cell signal up here, so I don't see how this will even help them out! sad.

BULLIED?? Geez! Do you not value what you worked for?? I would love to trust everyone who's coming to the event but you never know.. I'm doing my best to make sure the event runs smoothly and safely.. But I have to cover my *** just in case.. Why is that you can not understand that??

If something happens and someone thinks its my fault, fault of a volunteer, fault of a sponsor, etc.. they will go after all of us involved in this event.. Its another way to let those know they are responsible for their own action..

okay phil. i watch CSI and Law & Order. I know how low some people can stoop in order to sue in court... I will sign it. You should have had this clearly announced LONG ago. that's my argument. Not that it isn't a necessary strategy to cover your butt. The way you are going about it is what is wrong.

Most people will sign whatever and go along with it. but for me, I just can't keep my mouth shut when something isn't right.

Sheesh its no big deal, if people want to have fun and not cause any trouble I dont see why they wouldnt just sign the thing and let Phil cover his *** alittle. As for underage people go sounds reasonable that they should have some kind of release or guardian persent, so if someone of age wants to be there guardian and take responsability for them then thats fine too. Bottom line there is a way for everyone to participate even just knowing about the waiver now. Oh and we did have to sign one of these last year as I remember.

I don't remember any sort of waiver last year. could be wrong, but I honestly never saw one here and brought any such thing with me. I don't remember signing anything there, either.

I hope everyone has time to check the forums to be aware of this waiver business. especially our young people who are coming for a good time. it has been CLEARLY stated that there will be a police presence this year. that is all that should have been said and done. police maintaining order is all that should have been done, IMO. as for the underage people, I don't see how they will get to participate now, since there is little to no cell signal out here to call parents, and not many people have access to a fax machine at home. This should have been an 18+ only event, if it were that important.

All of this information should have been stated long ago. I've stated my $.02. See you guys in a couple of days.

Again, the biggest issue here is with minors. If any minor were to participate in drinking a beer or racing thru a "rented" parking lot or even doing burnouts in place that has been designated for DGRR and Phil's name is on it and they get caught by the Police, Phil could be held responsible. Drinking is not the only way to Contribute to the Del. of a Minor. God forbid that a minor does something like I stated above and gets hurt...Phil could get sued by their parents and be held responsible for possibly being negligent for not FOREWARNING (THE WAIVER) the minors about where responsibility lies...anywhere but on Phil.

It's an issue that I'm sure will work itself out fine. Yes, there are no cellphone signals but there are landlines. Just my 2cents.

Christina,

Your comment is noted.. But I can't turn back time! If I could, I wouldn't be here, I would be doing Gumball rally.

I really don't understand why its such a big deal to you.. Everyone could still have fun. Don't you think its your responsibility if something goes bad at the DGRR event? If so, why is it such a deal that you have to sign the waiver and letting me know you understand that its your responsibility up there?? Its that simple!

And regarding minor.. Sorry for those minor and I will do my best to clear it up. If a minor shows up, volunteer could go with them to Fontana and get it straighten out. The minor could give me their parent's contact info and as soon as they could be reached, we could resolve it. Do you want to take care of that, Christina? Most of it could be taken care of on friday night or saturday morning..

Again, I need ALL OF YOU to realize, MY Name is on a lot of things for this event... And its on it to make things easier for all of you. PLEASE realize that! And just because the drive on the public road it doesnt mean everything is taken place on the road.. Thats a mis conception some of you have... Waiver is to cover the whole event!! TVA has their own rules if those of you were at the event last year.. and quite strict!

Thanks Brad! Nicely put!

Again, some of you need to realize, I took on a BIG responsibilities by organizing this. Complaining about the waiver and telling me its too late doesn't help... If you want to help, help me by helping the minors and signing the waiver to let me know that all I did was put things together for the gathering and its your responsibility if something goes wrong..

well theres not supposed to be ANY drinking by anybody.
the thing stina is talking about is this should have been posted a while back. some of the people may not be able to see this in time, some of the underage could already be on the way there. im sure noone will complain about having to sign this but what if an underage member showed up at fontana village this afternoon then found out that his/her parents (who live 300 miles away) would have to sign a waiver before they could enjoy the event. it would be way harder to get done now vs. a couple of weeks ago. thats just my $.02

Sometimes (or quite often, actually), I will go off on a tangent about something if I disagree with something. I got carried away... sorry. lol.

I do understand where you are coming from... you need to cover all your bases just in case. I hope everything will work out for everyone. This weekend's weather will be SO MUCH nicer than last year. I just hope this stupid rain clears up.

^^ Well put Phil. I would be willing to say that the VAST majority of attendees will be of age and those who are not still have ample time to take care of the info Phil requested. For those few that are already in the area, I do understand that there is no cell service, but since you apparently have internet service, I would be willing to bet someone could get in touch with parents prior to Saturday.

I would do the exact same thing as Phil is doing here if I were in his shoes.

So, what do you guys want me to do??

Again, at this point, its a one man show!! Why didn't someone else point this out to me earlier?? I'm doing my best as I been working my *** trying to take care of things at work and getting ready for this event.. Do you guys know How much time I've spend just today on this event?? Just tonight, Ive spent 2 hours responding to this one thread! Hoping some of you complaining would understand..

Come on! I'm human! If you want to help! Help me by going around tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and find out how many people are minors.. If you meet a minor, help them get in touch with their parents and get a verbal confirmation by 2 adults and their emergency contact info.. Besides that, I don't see any other way!!! I support the idea of the waiver for the simple fact that it is just to cover the right people's butts. I just found it somewhat messed up to decide to tell people NOW that they couldn't participate without signing one. Nobody would want a shirt from an event that they couldn't come to.

Christina,

But you need to understand.. somethings are too late and it doesn't help when you complain about it. All the complains I've recieved in past 6 months were because people don't quite understand that I'm spending my time without any compensation. They think I have nothing better to do or think I'm making money off of this event.. ITS FALSE!! You even stated earlier that I shouldn't of collected money... I collected money for THE T-shirts!! I'll be happy to give that T-shirt! they just can't take part in the event without a waiver and if minor, without parents consent!

Sure I might of posted it little too late.. But it doesn't help me fix it if you only state the problem.. If you want to help, talk to people at the event and help me and help the minors.

Waiver was there last year and year before..

Again, if you have a better solution, state it here. But there is no other option at this point..

Phil, I am unaware of any minors who are attending the event on Saturday. They will be leaving Saturday morning to be back for other prior commitments.

As far as anyone else, I'm not sure I want to take responsibility to ruin someone else's day because this wasn't handled before. I am still going to be helping you with whatever else you need... including what we discussed earlier this week.

I agree it's a good idea to have this waiver but its very unfair and poorly planned to post this right before the event, for people under 18 who may have already made plans, taken off work, school, paid money to come to this event. I don't have a dog in this fight, but if I was under 18, I would not be happy.

Thanks!
We have 2 FULL days until Saturday event starts!
There is time! I need volunteers to help me with this matter just in case one or two minors come to the event without consent.. Who's willing to help?? Christina??

The volunteer's job will be:
1. Find out if there is any minors attending?
2. Ask around on Friday
3. If saturday, go with the minor to Fontana Village and call the parents and get verbal consent from them and get emergency contact info.

People will sue over ANYTHING these days.

I think we owe it to Phil to take the responsibility off of him for all he has done in setting up this event.

Thank you!

That would help me a lot!

To those who kept on say its poorly planned and such! I knew some of you existed and your comment will be noted for next years event.. Again, please realize how much effort I put in to this event vs small mistake that was made for small population of attendees. If you want to help, stop criticizing and come up with solution to help...
